Carl always keeps banging on about his world class power as if he was the second coming of Julian Jackson but the evidence since he first challenged for a world title against Jean Pascal suggests otherwise. He has only stopped three opponents, Taylor (career middleweight previously k.o'ed by Kelly Pavlik and latter by Abraham ), Bute (should have been counted out in the last round in his first fight against Librado Andrade) & Yusaf Mack (who?).

So, we know Carl does not have one shot k.o. power but his supporters argue that his world class power is more concussive and he achieves his stoppages through accumulation of punches. Yet the point still stands, since he first fought Pascal he has only stopped 3 opponents out of 10, is Carl's world class power overrated (mainly by himself)?

Carl Froch is known as a decent puncher, any decent puncher can switch your lights off. Froch's power is not over exaggerated or over looked IMO. He is simply a powerful puncher, there's not really much more to say :D

Clearly what is grabbing peoples attention is the fact Carl has put George over in sparring, and Froch seems to be clinging to that in interviews and media appearances. By saying things like:

"as soon as I land flush he'll fall apart"

The level of opposition he's faced he's not going to have a high ko ratio is he? Had the same argument before the Bute fight...Carl hits plenty hard enough and stops the people he's supposed to...you would expect groves to be one of those

yes froch did put groves down in sparring but a few days later grove worked froch over in sparring which was confirmed on ring side, so from the sparring I would say groves as the upper hand

The sparring possibly foreshadows the fight. Froch has the power to put Groves down and have him in trouble, but Groves has the skills and style to give Froch hell.

Why would you expect Groves to be one of those? Experience is not the only indicator of ability and not the definitive decider in title fights. Groves definitely has the better skillset and is the superior boxer but I feel his undoing come fight night will be the split with Adam Booth.

:huhim sorry which fan has said he has amazing power, froch is more heavy handed than a concussive puncher, the guy will accumilate damage to an opponent over time and punches landed later in a fight will show as having alot more of an effect due to the build up of damage, no ones claiming froch is going to knock groves spark out and to me anyway it will be more enjoyable to watch groves get battered over 7-8 rounds than to see him get ko'd in 1 :good

Froch has heavy hands he doesnt have the explosiveness of some fighters to get clean KOs but he can bludgeon his way through you see Bute fight

If he was feather fisted the likes of AA or Johnson would have walked him down

He had Kessler rocking all over the show in the 2nd fight more than once from right hands hes a hard puncher no doubt

So you are also saying that Groves must have decent power as well then? Groves fought Johnson to a wide UD whilst Froch went life & death (SD) with the same opponent one year earlier. FYI they both fought the ghost of Glencoffe Johnson.

Froch doesn't have explosive one punch power but he does carry his power for the full 12 rounds.
