I'm worried at the first opportunity they are going to try to rob him... The Donaire fight was way closer than it should have been and we have seen some shady stuff that recently that seems to benefit the promoters and those who make money off boxing... That being said Rigo isn't a big draw for casuals (I personally like watching him but your average viewer who only likes stuff like Rios/Alvarado won't appreciate) and I worry they are going to try to steal the title from him and get it back to Donaire so he can walk around being champ and making the $$$$$. HBO and Top Rank don't like him because he is a hard sell. He doesn't speak english and isn't an all action fighter, also there aren't enough cuban viewers to support him. If he was another nationality that had a high amount of people who followed him, not speaking english wouldn't be a problem. Cuba only has 11 million people, I don't even know if they can watch his fights there. What interest does HBO/TR have in keeping him champion? Integrity? They obviously don't care about that.
If they wanted to rob him they could've done it in the Cordoba fight and it wouldn't have been considered that bad a robbery
-I am worried that If I watch him again I might go into a sleep endorsed coma and I might Never wake up..:roflatsch
I don't see why they would rob him against Agbeko. I highly doubt HBO plans on turning Agbeko into a star.
Did you even watch the fight? Bradley was the one running all night stinking up the joint. Pac kept coming at him tapping his gloves signaling that he wants to exchange fists. Crowd booed Bradley because he kept running. Rewatch the fight and STFU.
"Pac kept coming at him tapping his gloves signaling that he wants to exchange fists." Oh, that is cute... "Crowd booed Bradley because he kept running." Yeah, usually the crowd boos when a fighter isn't scoring a knockout or exchanging leather with no regards to what comes back. In the end, your argument isn't valid. It takes two to tango but this isn't dancing, this is boxing, where you can legally run at, grapple, cut off the ring better, or push into a corner your opponent in order to make action happen. Pacquiao could have always abandoned his defense more so than he did in hopes of making an entertaining affair but obviously he didn't do that for some reason or another. Punches coming back his way is that reason.
To transfer the titles back to Nonito in some shape or way. Either by having him fight next so he beats the guy Rigo lost to. Then they have an action star who casuals will watch.
Right, but there was no actual world title on the line. Also Cordoba isn't any more marketable than Rigo. Arum thinks the guy is a nightmare. They gonna try to get those titles to another fighter they control then have him fight nonito. People need to realize TR is a BS company and a lot of controversial decisions come out b/c of them.
Nope, not worried about that at all. It would be a just way to take his title. I'm worried about fairness, not Rigo himself.
I'm not terribly concerned, but the chance for it is out there. Now, it's up to Rigo to know the way the game's played and adjust his output somewhat because of it. He doesn't need to reinvent the wheel and come back as a face-first brawler, but opening up some more offensively and countering a little more will go a long way towards relieving The Powers That Be that funding his fights isn't just a wasted investment.
