Is it just me or are more and more of these premature stoppages and dodgy decisions popping up on Matchroom shows than anywhere else. That stoppage against Simpson was a disgrace,he was standing up looking straight back at the referee and ready to fight, surely you have to give the guy a chance if hes not badly hurt. Once again,****ing disgraceful.
couldnt agree more. the way the fight was going it was possible Simmo would have won down the stretch. Coyle was struggling to avoid his shots from the 3rd onwards and the commentary were pish
What were you guys watching? John nicked one round in 7 put down 3 times, cut eye and looked very very tired, correct stoppage
Are you familiar with John Simpson? To say he was completely out of the fight and deserved to be stopped is bull****.
Coye was winning but Simpson was making him work. He didn't look hurt or tired. Your talking ****. He looked ready to fight on. That ref is a clown. A fully prepared Simpson could beat Coyle on that showing. He took the fight at 2 weeks notice.
The first 2 knockdowns were off balance, flash knockdowns, with absolutely no damage done at all from either, indeed the second one was more of a slip, although technically a knockdown (so was called correct) - the ref really should of been aware of that. The final knock down was a good shot, but nothing like a fight stopping shot - it's boxing, things like this happen, guys get hit, buckle and go to the floor. Simpson returned to his feet clear headed and steady legged. Simpson certainly wasn't being beaten up, and most definitely was still in the fight, the rounds were fairly close although he was losing. Anyone that has followed Simpsons career knows full well that he comes on stronger down the stretch. Honestly it was up there with the Maccarinelli stoppage against McKenzie, for the most needless I've seen in recent years. I've no idea what the referee was thinking.
Eddie Hearn is a ****ing slime ball nothing would surprise me on a match room show.look at rose last week he never won that.burns never beat Beltran.as much as eddies good for boxing he's just as bad for it.
I didnt see the Sim pson fight but the 3 fights before that had decent stoppages in my opinion. They were hurt and the ref jump in just before potentially getting seriously hurt. Always betting to stop it too early than too late. As i say im not sure about the simpson fight but the 3 prior to that were good stoppages IMO However there is a bit of a trend with premature stoppages. Theres only a fine line between stopping it early enough to stop a guy getting hurt and just stepping in way too early. Its hard to judge sometimes and when you have a guys safety in your hands it must be hard to try and get it right.
if any1 has ever seen simpson fight before he clearly gives 100% and has been behind before and came back felt ref far too quick too stop it plus agree with posters on this about commentary a few of rounds simpson was working harder throwing more punches if it wasn't for knockdown a thought fight was closer than jimm watts score
Didn't agree with the stoppage. This is John Simpson we're talking about here. He didn't look badly hurt, he is known to have come from behind before and win late plus he wasn't exactly out of the fight. Not to knock Coyle here, but it was a premature stoppage.
The ref may aswell have stopped it in the 2nd, stopping it at the time he did. Infact Im not sure why he didn't call the fight off after the bell rang and just declare Coyle the winner as Simpson was clearly 'In no position to continue'. I'm not sure the stoppage would of came if it was Coyle on the receiving end.
