Feel for Magomed. But these are the serious ramifications for abandoning the basics of defence. I was entertained by the fight. But that is probably little consolation for him and his family. Hope he recovers, with no long term side effects.

Didn't see the fight but read the rbr. Sounds like one tough mother****er.

Best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery.

He didn't take a turn for the worst...

An induced coma is used to help his recovery...

If they had the need to induce coma it's still not a good sign, but at least it's a stable and managed condition.

All the best to Mago and his family and wishing a speedy and full recovery.

Ah..damn, hate it when **** like this happens.

Corner should be ashamed of themselves should have stopped the fight.

People rip on Stevens/Alvarado for what they do. Look at what could be the case. Sometimes you just have to know you can't win and stop.

Very sad news. Fought his heart out, he took some heavy blows to the head.

All the best and prayers go out to him and his family.

I don't think Montoya understood that or at least the way he said it makes it seem more dire.

No... it's pretty much medical standard to use such a procedure for anyone who has had any kind of brain injury. Can be used just for brain swelling as well.. which all boxers will get after a 12 round fight especially so for a heavyweight...

Him having a 'small' blood clot was not a good sign... the induced coma is irrelevant.

Damn. I thought it odd they talked about a bloodclot and brain surgery and called it a minor procedure. Hopefully it is completely under control and Mago is able to bounce back and live a healthy, normal life.

DAM and HBO was all gloating about how great this fight was . sure it was for entertainment but next time they should think before bashing the Boxers who apply the hit and not get hit style
