Okay, it may sound a bit silly at first glance BUT does anybody apart from me think this could actually happen should Barker beat Sturm and Froch beat Groves? Think about it, they are both Matchroom fighters, Eddie Hearn will clearly only be putting Froch in super-fights from now on and while obviously Barker is Middleweight champion and Froch is Super-Middleweight champion they are actually the same height, Hearn has spoken about Golovkin v Froch in the past and Golovkin is the same weight-class as Barker. Both men are past 30 and the clock is ticking especially for Froch's peak.

This would surely sell British World Champion v British World Champion, does anybody else think this is a possibility as a British super-fight in an arena at a catch-weight with no titles on the line in 2014?

Absolutely no chance. Barker is not a big middleweight anyway and they are mates. Barker won't move up, he'll defend the title until he loses it (or loses a rematch with Sturm) then retire.

So many reasons this doesn't happen, why anyone would think this was a worthwile thread to post is beyond me.

Because it makes perfect business sense for Eddie to sacrifice one of his small number of world champions when under no pressure to do so?!?!?

Barker said to an American journalist before the geale fight that moving up to super middle is something he would not even consider. Because he makes middle so easily and is not big enough

No chance of happening even if they were with different camps Barker for one isn't stupid he would take some serious punishment against top level 168lb fighters & he knows it.

Barker isn't anywhere near big enough. Hopefully he'll fight either Murray or Macklin next year after Sturm.

    This.

There are other fights for both that make more sense.

No interest in this fight, not that it'd happen. As others have said, Barker would be destroyed. No chance in him hurting Carl either.
Carl would retire Barker with his injury history, not that anybody would be stupid enough to make the fight.

if it did froch batters him and drops him but wont stop him. Barker is too small to succeed and too brave to quit.
