Well he showed a very good chin against Tzyu but has been dropped and stopped by lesser punchers. Mayweather pulled him up in weight and it's possible Hatton's weight issues had already reduced his durability by that point. I think he had a good chin but it wasn't granite.
Not in the least bad. Above average, actually. (although not iron, obviously, considering he was chinned and KTFO twice, decked by Magee and wobbled by a shot HCP)
Means sod all when "British" chins have such a wide variety of durability from the absolute glass of Towers to the slightly stronger stuff of Khan to the average of Lennox to the good-but-not-great of Calzaghe and finally to the absolute granite of Eubank. Once more, Nationality has **** all to do with the strenght of a fighters chin and fighters should be judged on their individual attributes and merits and not by which nation they come from or choose to represent.
yeah, but to be fair, Cortez didn't allow him to fight so he got extremely frustrated and rushed forward without any thought. if you're not allowed to get into your groove, winning is going to be difficult. Hatton proved he had a good chin many times. later on in his career though, with his bad discipline outside of the ring, and with that style, it will catch up to you eventually.
I will agree that Cortez was a disgrace at that time. It's not that he didn't let Hatton fight, its that called Hatton/Mayweather in a totally contradictory way to the way he called Calzaghe/Hopkins only a few months later. When a referee does that you have to question his integrity.
