Geale isn't much better than Ishida.

They'll probably wait to see what the Nielsen rating was for Saturday and if it's big I'm sure HBO will step back in for MC. MC was already offering big money, with HBO chipping in should be able to get a decent MW opponent. Like with Wlad, they'll show it live and again at night pairing it with another card, maybe Chavez-Vera, to plant a seed for their eventual matchup.

    Murray - mandatory
    Geale
    N'Dam
    Mora
    Soliman
    Korobov - hopefully not

Which network has shown more interest in Golovkin, HBO or Showtime?

he is contracted by HBO I believe. If so, they won't be letting him go anytime soon...

Also referencing the posts above. Obviously HBO has some rights over GGG, but the Monte Carlo show isn't produced by HBO (though they'll probably pay for broadcast rights). If this is the case then technically HBO needn't do business with GBP to get a Quillin fight. K2 can do business with GBP if they desire, though I'd be pretty sure they wouldn't risk their relationship with HBO by having a fighter aired on SHO. Since Monte Carlo ain't produced by SHO however, the only hold up would be from the GBP/SHO end.

TBH I can see HBO being quite happy for GGG to get the chance at Kid Cs belt without having to break their restrictions, but Quillin would not be allowed to take that chance even if he wanted to I expect. HBO may have sanctioning rights on which fights GGG takes (IDK) but I can't see why they wouldn't want him to fight Quillin on a neutral network.

That said, everything so far points to Murray as the MC challenger, though obviously it can't be announced 'til after he fights Wood.

Murray doesn't have VISA issues. He can enter the country at any time for a for work purposes and but has to give 90 days notice prior to going. Which means if he was to fight anybody on HBO they'd need to sign the fight way in advance.

GGG / Stevens was rumoured but only officially signed 6 weeks prior to the fight taking place, that wouldn't be enough time for Murray to obtain his VISA.

Murray needs a signed and sealed date of work (HBO fight date) and 90 days notice.

Is it just me or do I see a slight trend in your posts that seemingly belittles all fighters that don't quite fit the mold of a traditional anglo-saxson. I apologize if my observations are way off course here I just get that vibe from you. In anycase I think a Quillen vs GGG fight is inevitable and if I'd have to pick a winner it would be GGG though that could change the deeper I look into the fight, one thing is for sure both men will taste heavy leather and triple G will get busted but at the end I can most certainly envsion him with his hand raised. Bangin fight...needs to happen.

Not sure if KC/GGG fight is inevitable.. I do think HBO would give the OK, in the event they do need to sanction a fight - or in the (more likely) event Team GGG asks their opinion. But thats because they likely think they would win the fight. As long as HBO suits confident in GGG win they would love to steal remaining SHO credibility at MW. A risk, since wins never guaranteed but probably a risk HBO would take here.

However KC can be ruled out for MC, because Tom L of K2 was hinting that HBO was probably on board and willing to put up purse money for Feb bout. That MC would be putting up good money to get GGG back, and HBO was on board in discussions for backing and they were looking to get a top rated MW in the ring.

HBO broadcast Geale/Barker and said they were happy with the results, as rebroadcast ratings were good enough to put it on par with other fights despite TZ issues hurting initial ratings. Plus On Demand and GO interest. Since HBO sells subs not advertising, overall subscriber interest is more important than peak eyeball count.

Of course it depends on how Murray fight goes down, who wins and how it looks. But as long as the winner of that fight is physically able and looks to be a game opponent id say 95% chance of seeing the WBA mando opponent announced for MC within a week of Murray fight to be aired on HBO.

What are Geale's excuse's now, it's time for him to step up and cop his flogging from GGG.

I don't have a problem with Geale, Barker (or Sturm I suppose but he refuses to fight other champions on a regular basis), Quillin, GGG and Martinez fighting each other. If those guys do that, great. If not, its BS. I realize there are mandatorys but by the end of next year a clear MW champ should be realized.

There is and has been for some time "a clear MW champ." It's Sergio.

    Wow, what a troll...

Geale has a top level resume regardless of how soft you think he punches or how many guys you think he'd lose to.

Murray is ideal and Geale is a great next option but I don't see them taking the fight. Murray probably makes more and minimizes risk by fighting the other British MW's and Geale probably doesn't want to fight Golovkin straight after a 12 round war he lost.

N'Dam and Mora are sadly in the realists' world acceptable options for Golovkin. A W over either, especially N'Dam, means more than ones over Curtis Stevens or 2013 MW Ishida.

Soliman I couldn't see happening with the positive PED test. And that would be a bad fight. That's on par with a fight with Korobov.

    ---

Golovkin going back to Monte Carlo is strange. I'd imagine HBO will follow even if it was an Ishida-type opponent as his last Monte Carlo opponent was being that the network has tried to pump Golovkin so heavily (even naming him to the P4P top 5), in addition to GGG's team seemingly emphasizing pumping his American appeal and recognition in general.

Sergio is by no means the "clear middleweight champ". He lost his last fight if all of Murrays knockdowns were counted. He has fought once since the Chavez fight. Face it. There is nothing "clear" about it.

Just like 2013 HBO probably can't afford to hold four Golovkin cards or at least don't mind having somone else put up most the money and just air it is a co-feature. Monte Carlo is very affluent, Prince Albert is a huge boxing fan and attended his last fight even going into the ring to raise his arm when they annouced the victory and Loeffler has talked about wanting to build Golovkin's name internationally too in 2014. Europe has alot of money and a large boxing market so if he has one or two fights there why not.
