Here are some options for you to ponder: Adonis Stevenson (if he beats Tony Bellew on 30/11/13): avenged his loss over Darnell Bonne by 6th round KO, won the Light Heavywight title after he stopped Chad Dawson in round one, beat Tavoris Cloud by RTD7 in his first defense, has a fight scheduled at the end of this month with Tony Bellew. Floyd Mayweather Jr. Won a Welterweight title bout by beating Guerrero and a Light Middleweight title with an MD (which most saw as a clear UD) handing Canelo Alvarez his first loss. Tim Bradley. Won a war with Ruslan Provodnikov, and defeated legend Juan Manuel Marquez. Danny Garcia. Retained his Light Welterweight title with a win over Zab Judah. Outpointed Lucas Matthysse in a fight most considered him the underdog. Bernard Hopkins. Old man has victories over Tavoris Cloud and Karo Murat and continues to hold off old father time. Edgar Sosa (if he beats Akira Yagashi on 6/12/2013). Probably won't win many votes on this forum due to people's ignorance of the little fellows, but stop Ulises Solis in 2 rounds, defeated Giovanni Segura by UD and has a fight scheduled against lineal belt holder Yaegashi on Dec 6th, which should he win- you better belive he's a serious contender. Gennady Golovkin. Triple G has 4 dominate wins over solid, if not spectular opposition: Ishida, Gabriel Rosado, Matthew Macklin and Curtis Stevens. Sergey Kovalev (if he beats Ismayl Sillakh on 30/11/2013). Another guy who has been dominate against solid opposition in Gabriel Campillo, Corenelius White and Nathan Cleverly. Also has a fight scheduled with the once highly touted prospect Ismayl Sillakh. Guillermo Rigondeaux (if he beats Joseph Agbeko on 07/12/2013), has about as an impressive a win as anyone with a victory over Nonito Donaire to win the Jr Featherweight title that is his only fight so far this year but has one scheduled in early December vs King Kong Agbeko. Mikey Garcia (if he beats Roman Martinez on Sat). Won the Featherweight title by beating Orlando Salido, smashed through Juan Manuel Lopez and has a Jr Lightweight bout coming up against Roman Martinez. Jhonny Gonzalez. Took Abner Mares 0 when he stopped him in round 1. Also has wins over journeymen Akikiko Katagirl and Eusebio Osejo Carl Froch (if he beats George Groves). Avenged his loss to Mikkel Kessler in May, now has a fight scheduled with countryman George Groves.
Good call. I can't understand people voting mayweather, he beat two guys that everyone (except the casuals) knew he was going to beat.
Kovalev comes close. I can't decide between them. No-one else comes close in achievement and activity (GGG has the 4 KOs but against lesser opposition). Dawson > Cleverly (but was coming off a bad loss) Campillo > Cloud (both were coming off loses, but one was a robbery gainst the other) White > Boone (but Boone was coming off a losing streak including Kovalev) Bellew = Sillakh (Bellew has a better recent resume) For me they are pretty much equal: both gained titles and have 3 KOs each so far.
