Obviously at the age of 45 his timing, reflexes, and speed are nowhere near his peak but i dont think he is as shot as some people suggest , i watched the Browne fight and scored it a draw , not as one sided as some suggest and he weighed 250 pounds, id expect he will be at least 15 pounds lighter for this tournament so might be a more tricky opponent

I really like James Toney and I admired his career. I do NOT want to see him get seriously hurt. The longer he fights, the more chances of him taking a bad beating. James needs to retire.

According to latest rumours he is now around 220 pounds. Against Browne he was way too fat, but he still managed to hurt him a few times.

I also saw Danny Williams en Oleg Maskaev fighting last Monday, that was terrible. Those guys are completely shot, it's a difference between them and Toney. Ofcourse Toney lost speed, but I think (and hope) he will do well in the tournament and who knows after that...

I'd say Toney does have a chance of winning this next week, although I think Minto is more likely to take it.

Why is Lewison (who could actually get somewhere from this) a reserve when Matt Legg (who is 37 and had 7 fights since 01') is a starter.

I've not seen Toney fight since Lebedev, where he looked terrible.

It wouldn't surprise me if Minto outworked him over 3 or big Larry manhandled him round.

Sprott should be favourite as he by far the best boxer out of the 8 (Including Toney of 2013)

Lewison vs Sprott would have been a great final.

Because Legg had already signed a contract before Lewison, so he's legally bound to be one of the starting eight.

Lewison had been scheduled to fight McDermott until a few days ago. If one of the four British HWs pulls out, which is definitely possible, Lewison will be added.

He fought in MMA, FFS. How is this any worse?

This is less of a circus act if you ask me. At least this is boxing.
