Is it just me when I say Deontay Wilder has the aura of Mike Tyson surrounding him?

Mike Tyson turned pro in 1985 and was a world champion in 1986.

Deontay Wilder turned pro in 2008, here we are Q4 2013........:rofl

Doesn't change the fact that Tyson's first 18 or so opponents were dug up from the same graveyard they are getting Wilder's opponents from now. Additionally Tyson's best wins were Spinks who was a light Heavyweight or an old Holmes. Not very impressive by any means.

Tyson fought the best available within 3 years of turning professional.

Deontay Wilder has been pro 5 years and has yet to fight an actual top20.

    :rofl

The glass jawed chicken legged giraffe will get exposed soon enough.

Lost interest in the OP immediately. I was around when Iron Mike came from nowhere. About the first fights I watched FWIW.

Anyways, far more interesting is why people (myself included) use the term 'meteoric rise'. I only just thought about it it, but what generally characterises meteorites (at least from the perspective of an earthbound mortal), is that they hurtle downwards terrifically fast before typically hitting the ground very, very, hard.

The one thing they don't do is rise.

Where the hell did that expression come from?

In that context, I suppose 'meteoric' may well be an appropriate description of Wilders probable career trajectory.

hmmm so winning the world title when just out of high school isn't good enough for you. That's when other kids are doing a gap year so they don't have to work and can stay at home to wank a lot. think about that for a moment.

Seems you would only be impressed if a spotty 5 foot four adolescent won the HW title, Rico. Keep up these damn fine posts.

I like Deontay. He does what I want my heavyweights to do. Breath of fresh air, needs to fight some live bodies though, losing interest in him against these faceless plodders.

Chisora would be a great fight for him.

Holmes would still run trough wilder resume, and could give wilder a hell.wilder is not anywhere near of the level of tyson or having aura of invicibility.wilder got aura of protected fighter, who's glass jaw is waiting to get hit.

I think maybe also Marciano, Ali, Foreman, Shavers, Norton, Willie Pep,Whittaker, Robinson, Leonard, Hagler, Moore all wound up in one. BTW the next round is on me.

Yes, it is just you and few others (americans).
Peoples that follows boxing knows what's going on with Wilder, and we know he'll be knocked out in spectacular fashion as soon as he'll stop fighting worthless tomato cans.

funnily enough i thought that too while posting, but upon reading your post figured that they spend most of their time hurtling through space, only occasionally smashing into (even fertilizing, according to the diaspora theory) planets. agreed on op.
