Nowing how dangerous this sport is, would you still Train(yourself or have him trained) in Boxing since childhood so he becomes a good boxer(at least master the skills) or would you be afraid of him getting K.O and Dying? Serious questions, because I plan on teaching my first born son(when he gets older) the Philly Shell, because if he is to be a boxer then he is going to be a defencive skilled one, not a brawler.... serious question guys!
Yes I would. It's definitely not the goal, but I can think of worse ways to go out (god forbid) then doing something you love and have a passion for.
I train my sister who is 9 and will have her first skills bout when she's 10. She is gifted with natural ability and genuinely loves the sport. She's the one who wants to train and spar so if they want to do something they enjoy then i'd embrace it.
No way in hell. If he was a gifted athlete, I'd try and get him into another sport. If he really wanted to box I'd support him, but my heart would be going 1000 mph every time he fought. I certainly wouldn't encourage it.
No it's not. It's not plain irresponsible to support your child in any combat sport. The earlier they start, the better. Obviously, damaging fights wont be allowed to occur at the very young age ranges.
Like this video says teach him the fundamentals first before teaching that philly ****. :good http://youtu.be/paN0nybBYJc
Funny thing is all the people is all the people say they hate 'runners' will teach their son to hit and not be hit and 'run'
No I wouldn't......I would want him to work out stay in shape but to take it seriously in competition level I NO. The wife calls me out as a hypocrite for this because our son does train in Martial Arts and does Spar every Friday and competes in Tournaments twice a year. But the amount of padding he wears all over his body is very different, and the contact rules are very structured..... Boxing is very brutal, there are so many other things kids can do to for sports and competition. Without compromising health
