Kevin Johnson, what a waste of space. We have that waste of space to thank for Vitlaly VS Jonhson and Jonhson VS Fury, simply horrible fights.

Odlanier Solis showed promise early on in his career and nobody thought that he'd be leaving the ring in the first round of his fight VS Vitaly. After the Vitaly fight Solis had a fight VS Konstantin Airich in which he looked like ****.

Now we have these two fighters going at it and no matter which way it goes one of them is going to be pretty much gone from the scene once and for all never to participate in a fight as large as this one again. I think that the one going away will be Kevin Johnson losing by fifth round Ko.

    What do you fellows think?

Johnson had people tell he'd be something great, but he never amounted to anything more than a fringe contender who now is a journeyman.

Johnson is farther along the curve in terms of career deterioration than Solis, but I think Solis will eventually go Johnsons way. More talented, but it won't help his lazy ass.

Having said that Solis will IMO win by clear UD 12 in a boring fight.

    Solis wins. 50% KO-TKO, 50% UD.

Dont see anyway solis gets the ko. Johnson is very cautious, and solis is not a seek and destroy fighter. Wide points win for solis, just like every other kingpin loss

Klitscko Ko'ed Solis, Klitscko couldn't Ko Johnson, Fury couldn't Ko Johnson.... but styles make fights. Thing is that Solis should be able to land on Kevin harder and easier than those fighters did and thereby Koing him. But yeah an ultraboring UD win for Solis wouldn't really do anything to elevate his status, if he was to win by a boring UD then he'd get a "boring" stamp instead of the achievment stamp he'd get by doing what Klitscko and Fury couldn't and getting the Ko.

So your a journeyman if you lose to the HW champion of the world, an unbeaten prospect and once in Prize-Fighter (anyone can lose in that format)? Some people really don't know sh*t about boxing.

As to the OP saying Johnson is a waste of space. Fighting for the world title? Hardly a waste of space. And if you saw KJ in person you wouldn't dare talk to him never mind call him a waste of space. Have some respect.

    Horrible fight for Kingpin.

His inside fighting ability is trash, and theres no way he's gonna beat Solis from the outside with his jab.

Sad thing about Kingpin is he's got such a good outside fight game. He throws the 1-2 very solidly, but he rarely follows up his shots. He lack the aggressiveness to be a complete fighter.

Solis is very workman like in his approach. He finds an opening while going thru the motions and exploits it for the entire length of the fight. He does know how to close the show and isnt afraid to take a shot to land two. He punches well in combination and he COULD be a solid top HW. That said, he lacks the killer instinct to change the tempo early on. He'll just keep needling away until his opponent is ready to go. That makes for boring fights. Especially knowing the guy has the tools.

That said, this is gonna be a very boring fight. Horrible styles matchup for the fans. Kingpin could work his way back into contention by beating on guys like Pajkic, Rossy, Harris, McCall etc. He needs to get active in the top 100, mowing down Clevel guys and washed up Blevels that can't get past his jab.

Solis has made some decent fights lately and has been pretty active in terms of making potential fights. However, signing and making those fights has been different story altogether.

I know he's been lowballed by Adamek and Pulev, but in all fairness, Adamek fills seats, and Pulev, while not a marquee name, is the higher ranked fighter.
Other fights that have fallen apart against Fury, Grant, Chagaev etc, would have been great fights, but for some reason, never came to fruition.

This fight seems official and I hope it come through. It aint gonna be a good one, or a make or break fight as the OP suggests, but it's certainly a legacy building fight for both guys. And the winner will defo get bigger and better fights coming out of it.:think

By the way, Vitali not KO Solis. Solis could not continue due to a knee injury. Who says Vitali KO Solis, it just ***.

Don't expect a stoppage win by Solis. He might pull it off, but he probably won't.

Vitali caught Solis high on the temple and buckled him. Solis was going down regardless of the knee.

He wasn't getting KOd right then and there, but he was being too aggressive early on and would have eventually taken a prolonged beating.:think

Johnson is too passive and is too stationary a target. It will be a clear but lacklustre decision win for Solis.

He clearly went down from the punch and injured his knee when it made an impossible bend because of that. Not KO (he wasn't down for 10), but clear TKO1

    Solis is not koing Johnson

For some reason I can see Johnson tagging Solis quite a bit he has the height advantage, just his workrate is terrible

Of course I wouldn't call Kevin Johnson a waste of space in person... not unless he gave me **** that is but this is a forum and in regards to the heavyweight division and the history of boxing Kevin Johnson certainly hasn't been the best fighter. Kevin Johnson had one of the shittiest fights ever for the world title in boxing history.

I see this as a make or break fight for these fighters. Solis isn't able to get the big names into the ring with him cause of the unfavorable risk-reward ratio. If he loses to Kevin Johnson then it's pretty much over for him cause nobody wants to fight an extremely dangerous fighter with two ko losses.

Only thing that Kevin Johnson has left is that he's never lost by Ko. Now it's just a question of who can be the first person to knock Kevin Johnson out, if Solis manages to then Kevin can expect to receive much lower purses for his fights from this fight on.

Kevin Johnson would have something to gain from winning a boring UD but if Solis wins by a boring UD then it's the same as losing really and not a guarantee for anything bigger or better.
