In my opinion Wilder needs to prove himself. He's only fought bums at the moment and I wouldn't be surprised if he had a shaky chin. If he can beat some top guys I will give him credit.

If someone from here went professional as quickly as Wilder did you'd be fighting bums too

The guy hasnt got the years of experience like everyone else, if you get rushed you can get David Price'd

    He has olympic experience.

People are comparing him to Mike Tyson, Mike Tyson did not have olympic amateur experience and he turned pro in 85' and was a world champion in 86'.

Deontay Wilder turned pro in 2008, and here we are.. 5 years down the line, and he has yet to step up.

People should stop comparing him to Mike Tyson, they're nothing alike.

Mike is reported to have a 48-6 record as an amateur, he lost out to Tillman in the amateurs and lost his place on the olympic team. (A fight that is on yt, which I thought he won.. and he was robbed by Biggs aswell imo).

Regardless, I am sick and tired of people comparing him to Mike Tyson and defending Deontay getting spoonfed these bums, HIM AND MIKE ARE NOTHING ALIKE.

Wilder is getting KTFO first time he steps up. That is why he is desperately being positioned for a title fight, so that his management can cash out. Great power against bums, but no chin against bums.

That chin will do him in.

:smoke I think WILDER is awesome . If he does have a poor jaw then he might give us a heavyweight HEARNS ! And that's a dam good thing . But if he is even a little sturdy and composed when faced with adversity he's going to be a serious threat to anyone including the KLITS ! :deal

stevenson started boxing late...didnt have tons of amature experience but they avanced his career quickly..look where he is now.....

either wilder has bad management or they know something about him that we dont....i mean he was a medalist in the olympics...so he has some decent background...not sure how him and stevenson compare in amature experience....but they are moving him way too slow...unless he has a suspect chin or is vulnerable against good opponents lol

GGG is the same case...but i think its a bit more on the side he is having problems finding good fights because of risk vs reward...but now i thin he is due, has a belt, is rated #1 in the division ahead of martinez by many sites...i think 2014 is the year GGG steps up...wilder on the other hand...i think he wants the fights...but his management is turning them down to get easy fights and nice KO wins for some media coverage of the next american great black "h_pe"<----insert O or Y depending how you view him!

What a load of crap, it's not like he turned pro right off the street like the bums he's fighting. The man earned a Bronze at the Olympics, so did Price for that matter as a SHW. Price almost got into the 2004 olympics also, except Cammerelle beat him. Price was not rushed, his chin is simply glass.....just like Wilder's.

Credit to Price, at least he and his promoter had the balls to step up and find out if he can hang in against a live body.

The experience excuse for Wilder doesn't hold water, he's been spoon fed long enough given the manner he's been winning fights.

America desperatley needs a face for the heavyweight division, so the hype train is in full force with Wilder although his accomplishments don't merit it. He has the power and reach to beat someone on the next level but with his chin and lanky frame he doesn't have much long term hope to be consistent. Sooner or later a live body will spark him out quick.
