Guillermo Rigondeaux effectively ruined Nonito Donaire?

Looked like Nonito was eating shots last night, even getting buzzed.

I thought he would blow Vic out the water, whom by the way is not the fighter he once was.. and even that Vic should get blown away by Donaire.

Did Guillermo take Nonito's confidence away?

I think he is not the same.... OR... it was all hype?

Could've been a mixture of both, but I honestly think he's not the same fighter he was.

The Nonito that blew out Montiel, whom is a better fighter than Vic imo... would absolutely shatter Vic early.

Nonito went with the hype and that´s what ruined him. Maybe he was not a top 5 p4p fighter but he was close. Then he slowly piled up bad performances and for the past two years it has looked as if all he aims for is that big KO shot.
Agains Vic he looked mentally broken for a while after Vic dagged him clean.

Donaire should go the Gatti route. Use his boxing skills and forget the KO´s. Forget the excitement. Just box your opponents and slowly pick them apart. The Flash was fun to watch even he dominated.

Id say Rigo took alot of his confidence didnt help that Vic is a southpaw too
Vic was motivated as fxck, he was making sure he didnt get hit by the left but then made a mistake

Montiel was legit so that win was more than a little impressive. Perhaps since then he has got caught up in the hype too much until his ego was shattered by Rigo. Think he needs to drop back down

I don't think the Rigo fight done anything to his physical attributes but It did his confidence.

Donaire didn't look very interested. Maybe it was just me but he didn't seem to me that he was trying to do things he could once do and now can't, he just seemed a bit uninterested. He better figure it out though

Donaire looks rusty and was relying to his power more, i want him to fight a contender at 126 next before fighting Salido or John, 1 more build up confidence fight then fight for a title mid next year

Seems like a guy who's head is only partially in the game.

thats what I told people on the scene. Everyone is talking about Rigo but Donaire had regressed like 4 or 5 fights before Rigo. He went from being a great all around boxer to a one punch stalker with no skills. Rigo just finished him off and ended his confidence but his skill set had been in regression way before Rigo. He started knocking guys out and then fell in love with it while forgetting what made him great. He's just a one punch stalker now and he got away with it because he had mad confidence but now Rigo has even taken that away

I think its a mixture of all these things: hype , falling in love too much with his punching power and of course getting his confidence and his desire shattered by Rigo ...... but it could've been even worse. Look at what happened with Mares. This dude was a proven fighter who beat lots of top guys, yet he got KTFO'd in 1st round by Gonzalez.

I agree, I think it's a mixture of a lot of things. First, Darc came in wanting to prove that the first fight was a fluke. It's a lot harder to ko a guy that's fighting to not get ko'd. Vic was having a lot of sucess with his lefts but would get caught almost immediately when trying to follow up on that sucess. Second, Rigondeaux showed that Nonito could be beat. He has lost that aura of invincibility. Third, he's getting up there in age for the weight class. It looked as though his reflexes have slowed just a bit. Fourth, he just had a kid. That kind of upheaval in ones life tends to drain some of your mental focus. And finally he's got money now and may have lost the hunger that is so essential to being sucessful in boxing. Someone once said it's damn hard to get up at 5am to do roadwork when you're sleeping in silk pajamas. I think this fight will serve as a wake up call to Nonito. He should now realize that it's only going to get harder for him from here on out.

You all have got to remember. Donaire was fed chump after chump. He hadn't faced a real viable opponent in years. He didn't face any of the guys in the bantamweight tourney, or Moreno. The first top level opponent he faced recently was Rigondeaux. Darchinyan, although Donaire beat him a few years ago, is actually a step up from the Arce's, Nishioka's, Mathebula's, Sydorenko's, Montiel's etc. as well. Donaire was looking pound for pound, because he was being matched softly.

You got to give props to Vic.
He came immensely prepared, motivated, and hungry.
He got a lot to prove since his last fight against Nonito turned out pretty badly for him.

Nonito on the other hand, thought he could end it in the same way that he did and end it early.
If it wasn't for his cornermen telling him to jab more to set-up his straight and just box more instead of waiting to land that one left hook again, he would've lost.
