That was with the old amateur system. In the WSB he sat down on his punches. According to some lads who sparred him he hits harder than Frampton and Davey Oliver Joyce.

jesus if he hits harder than them he could be one hell of a prospect so, i saw all his wsb fights he was always able to land very clean punches, but as Lomachenko said in an interview the wsb gloves dont allow you to make a proper fist and this limits your power. Also id love to see David Oliver Joyce go pro,i dont know why he hasnt already.

That was my point though about the Valdez fight it was only 3 rounds with headgear and yet by the third he was already walking him down, do you think John Joe could survive 12 rounds with Valdez in the pros? That why John Joe's power is a very important factor as he will need to keep fighters off of him and be afraid of his counter punches similar to Prince Naseem.

Oscar valdez is no ordinary fighter. Certain world champion, possibly next mexican great. One of the few prospects who i can see in the future giving lomachenko a good fight.

I know that his got great potential ,but the point was would could he keep Valdez off of him for 12 rounds? I think he would only be able to if he has a lot of sting in his shots

Why do people keep suggesting building him in Belfast

He won an Olympic medal and is a somewhat household name in the south, he doesn't need to box up north

Theres next to no pro shows held in the south. Its either Belfast or America as the only realistic options.

Nevin is very shrewd, he knew he had Oscar beat if he kept on the move, so why risk it all?
Yes, Frampton himself said anybody that thinks JJN cant punch is greatly mistaken.

This is my point, we desperatly need someone to take on the mantle and headline shows here, I think Nevin could do it. Add the likes of sutcliffe to the card and you will generate interest.

He wasn't walkin him down, he was walkin into JJ's punches. JJ did what he had to do to win in the old amateur system which was hit and not be hit and Valdez allowed him to. JJ just got hit with a monster body shot and still got up and out boxed him. I doubt he would even fight Valdez cause he is a beast.

Ever since Bernard Dunne retired boxing in the south really suffered. John Joe said he'll fight once a year in Ireland so that will build a bit of interest and ye never know, he might end up coming back to Ireland and pick up where Dunne left off. And theres a few young pros on this island that could jump on his cards like they do in Belfast with Frampton.

As you said there Valdez is a beast and has great potential but theres a lot of fighters who can do the same things he does , absorbs punishment walk through it and get to there opponent and John Joe cant avoid every pressure figther in the world if he wants to be a world champion. That why i was asking the question how far do you think John Joe can go? Euro level, world level?
