how's it a disgrace? genuine question in my opinion it's not like thread starter is having a pop at him or anything
Dean had a history of depression. when you suffer from depression, it's not usually one thing that leads you to end things, it's an accumulation of many things. depression really puts a serious amount of pressure on your day to day life. it leaves you exhausted and beaten down for long periods of time. then one day, while feeling vulnerable, things get on top of you and you just feel you can't take any more. it's a sad thing to happen. but depression has no respect for anyone. it's a horrible illness. many good people like Dean get taken from their loved ones every year due to this ruthless illness. it really is a shame to see. if only there was another way for sufferers to find their peace, Family and Friends wouldn't have to go through such a traumatic experience. but life can be cruel sometimes.
Why is a disgrace or insensitive to ask why someone took their own life on a public forum? No-one's being disrespectful here. It's relevant and interesting to fans, especially those who felt a connection with Dean. Could perhaps help people to open up and talk about depression. It could even save a few lives.
Agreed. I was surprised at the negativity in response to the question. Glad to see there are still some people with common sense on here.
It is a disgusting and insensitive thread. I find it staggering you and others are trying to claim the moral high ground by stating we need to understand. A boxing forum is not the sort of place where delving into a mans personal life to find out why he committed suicide should take place. Whilst this is a public forum its also a place where people should be respected. How would you like it if you came on here and a member of your family was being discussed. In addition Deans passing away was only a short time ago and things are still raw. Discussing issues like this only lead to speculation as only those close to Dean know the facts and thats why its a subject which should be left alone in respect for Dean but more importantly for his family. If you claim to be taking the moral high ground your blunt, in sensitive post starting this thread would have been worded totally differently. You and other forum members should have some respect for a truly great servant for boxing and his family members and you should leave this particular subject well alone for the experts.
Not sure why any rational person would think this, although grieving is an emotional response of course and can distort rational thought. Of course it is. It's boxing news. Where should it be done, on a cricket forum? No disrespect in this thread apart from that shown by hotheads like yourself, trying to turn it into a ruck. It's worded fine. Read the posts, everyone's shown respect. YOU haven't shown much respect though, by turning it into a platform for YOUR anger.
I was around forums when Sutherland died and there was plenty of speculation as to why. I think its a natural question to ask. Suicide is a difficult thing to understand at the best of times. Powells death came as a shock and it's completely natural to wonder why he did it. I have nothing but respect for Powell. However, when you end your life like that, it's pretty fair to say that people are going to question why. That's all I and others were doing here and we were called names and attacked in this thread. We showed no disrespect to Dean whatsoever.
agreed! Lotta people over-react here i say to those people...dont watch news or tv ....Theres always reports of death there too & those who died have family members too!
Nothing wrong with the question at all,and it seems there has been a mass break out of contagious PMT spread through the pussies on the forum.Could you imagine these if the Lounge was still on the go?
May he rest in peace The problem with mental health is its often a thing thats kept quiet and ignored , people are uncomfortable talking about it and that in its self is part of the problem. Coming from an Island that has one of the highest suicide rates in the UK among men the same thing happens, people ignore it and dont talk , these things need to be discussed to help folk.
If it comes out he had a penchant for fondling male escorts would that make any difference at all? The guy is dead, he deserves to be left to rest in peace.
