New evidence Although Rodrigues Gatti says shes in Montreal to stay, Paul Ciolino, a Chicago-based Brazilian private investigator hired by Gattis former manager, Pat Lynch, believes she will soon be on a plane to Brazil to face justice. When private investigators working for Gattis family first introduced evidence they claimed showed the boxers death was a homicide, Gattis family requested an independent autopsy in Quebec. The autopsy report, released in November 2011, revealed that there was no clear evidence of foul play in Mr. Gattis death. The report concluded that although Gatti died what was described as a violent death, the cause was listed as asphyxiation by neck. The coroner admitted there was no clear and hard evidence that a third party was involved in his death and was also critical of Brazilian authorities, suggesting they had mishandled evidence at the scene of Gattis death. Private Investigator Paul Ciolino told Global News that now new evidence has turned up, which he claims points to Rodrigues Gatti as a suspect. He alleges that a bribe was paid to hide evidence and says thats why Rodrigues Gatti was released by Brazilian police. Rodrigues Gatti denies these allegations. If they want to try [to send me back to Brazil], let them try, she said. Ciolino claims the original lead investigator looking into Arturo Gattis death has confessed on tape that evidence at the scene was destroyed and alleges that bribes were offered. I think Arturo Gatti will get the justice he deserves, Ciolino told Global News. He added that he thinks that Amanda Rodrigues will be arrested, and I think the truth will eventually come out this year. Rodrigues Gatti maintains her innocence. She insists her husband committed suicide and she called detective Paul Ciolino a liar. I really, really dont care about anything that comes out of his mouth, and about his idea, I really dont care. The Pernambuco prosecutors office in Brazil has confirmed that a court hearing has been scheduled for March and that the prosecutor looking into the Gatti case could launch a new investigation. The prosecutor will be proceed about the case in the beginning of March, Gilvan Oliveira, spokesperson for Prosecutors Office in Pernambuco told Global News. Prosecutor Paula Catherine Ismail is studying the process. I think she will request more tests, more investigation about the crime . . . its a big process. Rodrigues Gatti said the only things on her mind are taking care of her store and her son. I have nothing to hide, I can live anywhere in the world, and I can walk with my head up.
Gatti was one of the indestructible fighters in ring history. The wars and punishment he took was inhuman. He wouldnt have killed himself and he didn't die of natural causes.
Quite a few very brave boxers have.I have an open mind on this until it is changed by concrete proof.
How can they extradite her from Canada to Brazil, if they gather enough evidence to charge her in Gattis death? Is that possible?? I don't think he committed suicide but he was so drunk all the time, who really knows but her, unless she hired some goons to come in their house and whack him after he passed out.
other than suicide that is obviously found as the cause, what you say is the only way it could've been done, strangled and strung up by paid thugs while he was passed out. that's what I fear she did. and of course entertained the cops with pleasure and promised pay offs to ensure her innocence. Brazil and South America is famous for this kind of corruption and if a sweet little rich thing finds her self suddenly wading in ****, well if she doesn't know what to do, you betcha other people in her life would inform her pretty quick!
Justice for Gatti's death would put alot of fight fans and those who were closest to him at ease. I have never believed it was a suicide especially after seeing the HBO special on Gatti's life and his fights with Ward. There were a few things that didnt sit right with me and one of those things were watching his ***** of a wife walking out of the Police station after questioning smiling and laughing. Theres no doubt in my mind there was foul play with her name written all over it and I hope that those responsible are brought to justice so that we can all feel better about what happened that night. I always agreed with Lampley and Merchant when they said boxing could have used 4 or 5 Gatti's. Im a huge fan and I just hate to see his legacy tarnished by a death in which nobody really knows how he died....except Mrs. Gatti. Theres no way he killed himself!
What is that supposed to prove? That someone's determination in athletic competition shows how they deal with everyday life? A boxing match lasts 36 minutes of fighting, at most. Life is everyday. Totally different. In fact, you can make an argument on the flipside that Gatti giving so much in the ring showed how much boxing meant to him, that he was willing to go through hell to win, and suddenly in his mid 30s, he could no longer do what he loved. Which would obviously be tough mentally for anyone to deal with. Substance abuse and possibly brain trauma is a dangerous mix. His own brother thinks Arturo killed himself. However, I still am suspcious. A purse strap? I don't know much about purses, but a purse strap can support an 180 lb man??!! Also, she was all smiling and happy when she was released from jail, with the cameras all on her. Now of course anyone would be relieved to be out, guilty or innocent, but the way she smiled and acted in front of the cameras didn't sit well with me.
There's are articles published in FEB, MAY, and NOV - regarding a bribe taken by the lead investigator. Haven't uncovered anything since. Listen, when you are addicted to painkillers - life is good. The only reason for a junkie /addict to snuff it out is when there is no life - there is no money . Gatti had ***, he had a hot wife, and he had plenty of money to keep from having to face withdrawals. It does not make sense. The only other theory that holds water is the brain damage - concussion theory = circa Junior Seau, David Benoit, where it comes out of nowhere. Indeed. Alexis Arguello being one of them. Being tough in a fight doesn't necessarily mean mentally stable. That said, I DO believe he was murdered.
Gatti would not hang himself, Samson and Delilah all over again, a friend of mine used to say "one hair on a woman's part are stronger than the cables of the strongest bridge"
Anyone who has been friends with, or is, a binge drinker knows that some pretty out-of-character events can happen, depending on the person. Gatti's violent antics earlier in the night pretty much seal this one as a suicide for me.
