Joe was like 2 years younger!!:lol::rofl:rofl

Perhaps they feel it unfair because Roids took their toll on Jones :patsch

They also said Hopkins was shot at the time Super Joe beat him but he was clearly in his prime. :deal

...yeah, based on what you wrote earlier that makes no sense.

"You saw a fraud when they sent Lacy into Joe's squared circled."

And while we're getting all types of past tense / present tense in this thread, are you saying that when Joe beat Lacy that a time warp was created and the present tense fans could see their futures selves not giving Joe credit?

Or was it just a typo?

If it was just a typo, what you're saying is that Jeff Lacy was in a fact going to be a great fighter before Joe 'ruined' him.

What about Lacy made YOU think he was going to be so great?

I heard all you twats going on about how he was the new Roy Jones or James Toney and your delirium, that Calzaghe was some sort of Sven Ottke protected bum. :nono

I though "Roy Jones, James Toney, lar-de-dar, send your roidy here- it matters not, Joe will toy with that twat and push his **** in if he's anything like his fellow roidy's" :bart

Admit it. If Lacy had been found dead in a Supermarket fridge a week before the fight and Calzaghe retired- you was one of the ****s that fought Lacy would destroy Super Joe. :patsch

    Answer this question:

Was Jeff Lacy hype or substance?

That's really what this is boiling down to.

You see, when you say things like:
it implies that you don't think Lacy was any good to begin with, which makes the win for Joe more about defying expectations than actual substance. And if that's the case, then why are you fixating on it?

Somehow the Lacy win seems to get lauded as this legacy builder. Then in the same breath practically every Calzaghe fan starts calling Lacy a 'hypejob'. Newsflash, Lacy couldn't be both 'hypejob' and 'worthy opponent' at the same time, one more or less precludes the other.

In the end, this thread is much less about Calzaghe, Hopkins or Lacy as it is about your weird fetishes.

And for the record, I did think Lacy was going to win in as much as I thought about it at all.

Anyway, enjoy your strange troll thread.

To answer your question- a bit of both. He had many flaws but he was good enough that only the class fighters could expose it and only an ATG just completely embarrass and ruin him like that.

You only fought Lacy or any other of Joe's opponents could beat him because YDKSAJC!!!

    NO BLUEPRINT. NONE WHATSOEVER

Their ages and weights are far too different to compare...

Joe never fought at MW... We don't know how he would have looked there..

would I pick SMW Joe over Trinidad, Taylor and Joppy? damn right...

Would I pick Joe over MW Roy Jones? no

Would I pick Joe over Antonio Tarver at LHW? Not sure... The big things for me here, is we have never seen Joe in against an elite southpaw... He did dismiss Tarver because he caught a shot Roy at the right time...

Joe had a great talent, and did have a very good career.. I have respect for the man, but I don't feel he was ever tested against someone like a prime Jones or Hopkins... He did beat some very good fighters though.

Joe is ATG in my book... But a bit behind Jones and Hopkins.

As far as the poll goes, there is not a sane person that see Joe Calzaghe school Jeff Lacy in epic fashion... I almost voted Lacy because it was such a stupid question.

It's like asking who won between Jones and Toney..

Jones moved up in weight and beat undefeated Toney who was atop many of the P4P lists....

Joe's victory against Lacy was a good win, but it doesn't hold a candle to what Roy did to James Toney.:good

Drugged or not, Joe has no chance over Roy Jones 93-03...

If Lacy would've died in a supermarket fridge just before Joe took him to school you would've said that.
