Hey, been a member on this forum for a while, never got round to posting though just enjoy reading articles/people's opinions etc.
In the blue corner, I fight at 71kg and have not long turned 21, used to play football at semi-pro,needed a new challenge, tried boxing.
Thought i'd do a post as i had my 4th amateur fight last weekend, I lost via stoppage in the 3rd but thought i'd share the tape just to get other people's opinion on a forum where we all love boxing!
I trained for about 7 months before my first fight and have now been training for a total of about a year and a half, i lost my first, won my second and third and lost my fourth.
    I'm a novice but a big student of the game and a lot of what's going on for me is mental and boxing is a thinkers sport, i've studied this footage back so many times already and picked out most of the things i need to correct & improve on to progress, would appreciate feedback from people just to get your opinion, positive & negative, here are some things i picked out;
    - Seem to be very nonchalant at times w/ footwork when comes to getting out of the way, even though i'm a skilled boxer and have good footwork, sometimes this doesn't transfer over from gym to fighting, i think it's more of a mental thing, as in my gym it's hard to get sparring my weight so i suffer from ring experience.
    - In conjunction with slow footwork at times i often leave my chin exposed and up, which normally isn't the case but i think some nerves/anxiety doesn't help as i am still quite green.
    - Over eager in attack sometimes leaving myself open to counters etc.
    - In the same way sometimes not aggresive/eager enough to go forward & press.
    - Wait too long sometimes could be popping double jab etc. in middle of ring.
    - Needed more double jab-right hands.
    - In general seem quite laid back/nervous & couldn't let punches flow like in the gym.

Thanks guys, let me know what you think, appreciated.

great fight m8, you have nice punching technic for a novice fighter, you had really good moments in a fight..

the main thing you didn't see is that you were fighting his fight all the way. He never moved forward, except the first round, probably coach said to him to box in 2nd and 3rd. The whole time he was waiting for you to come in so he can counter. If you were not attacking, he would bite you with feints and on the end you would finally come in. Watch it again, its pretty funny how you cant wait (2nd & 3rd round).

so, the conclusion is - you must be more patient, its hard when you get your adrenaline working, but that's the point ;) of course, fight would probably be boring, but **** it, you wouldn't be stopped and who knows, maybe you would win the fight.

You did well. His counter left hook was the big difference between you two.

The reffing was poor, you should have gotten a standing count about 3 seconds before you did

He looked flat out more experienced. His landed cleaner punches from round one through the whole fight.

Who was the ones that had the fan's cheering for them?

Before the stoppage you just had ur hands up in the corner letting him hit you... even if u were buzzed you need to try to move ur head or tie him up... tieing him up is obviously hard when hes on the attack but some slips when he was flurrying might have avoided alot of his punches.... easier said than done however

Thanks for the comments, yeah that was one thing I noticed along with the anxiety, i rushed my attack at times, my coaches had been on at me to be more aggressive and trying to do as they said that was the result, normally I don't wait around but prefer to counter punch, was awkward trying to be the aggressor, because i'm a novice still i think they mistake my counter-punching/waiting as being more passive when it's not, just more comfortable.

Yes he was about 28/29 and i'm 21, not sure how many fights he's had/years he's been registered, my coach didn't tell me for a change
Yes he did land the cleaner punches especially in round 3 but I still landed my fair share of clean punches, lead rights, odd jab, hook right etc.

Fans were for him in red corner, ould you not tell haha? The noise when he got the stoppage & decision.

Thanks for your comment, yeah I hear you, didn't really buzz me just caught me clean after i blocked his first two shots coming in and think just nerves etc. was a new situation to me, especially in an actual fight, normally in the gym i would be out of there/head movement or hold but, seemed to freeze and couldn't do what I wanted, experience i suppose.

Your main issue is with range - you attack from too far away.

Plenty to work with there though mate - well done.

You look good for someone just begining. Perhaps cause you were an athlete before. I don't really see any problems with your ability.

I think this guy just may have had more experience. I encourage you to keep at it. This loss should mean nothing to you but a learning experience.

man I thought u looked good! he did look a lot more comfortable than u, nothing u can do about that tho except fight more.

im still working on committing in good range with my punches in fights. u seem to have a similar issue, so yeah maybe its just an experience thing.

thought ur punches were straight and u moved well too. good job! work in that hook when guys like that open wide up, he dropped his hands a lot.

good luck as u continue, post the next one!

Yep definitely a learning experience, thanks mate. Yeah i think perhaps being an athlete before may hinder my aggression at times coming from a sport that wasn't combat based, but i most certainly can punch & be aggressive, just need to bring everything together on fight night.
    Appreciated mate.

Thanks bro, yeah being comfortable is a tough one, been in with a lot of experienced fighters etc. sparring but still can't fully relax under the lights, but experience/time will tell i suppose, positives i took from this fight being my first one on DVD and gave me confidence in my speed etc.
Yeah i felt i reached alot in this fight, most people at my gym are flat footed, i'm a mover and guess found it difficult with someone who was stepping out of range etc. as i jabbed rather than trying to take everything on the gloves.
Will do bro appreciated, you too keep it up!
