Haye was one of my favorite fighters. He was one of the hardest punchers in the game, and he was versatile.

It's a shame he's out. He would have been the one to beat Vitali into retirement.

His shoulder injury is a testament to why boxers or anybody for that matter that values longevity, shouldn't lift weights.

That doesn't mean, don't strength train.

Do calesthinics. You can make them very difficult by switching to one limb and changing angles.

I also think kettlebell swings and turkish get ups are safe, as long as they are done right.

    Point being, don't lift weights.

Or don't try to fight people who are naturally much bigger than you. That's why he would be doing weights in the 1st place.

He doesn't lift heavy weights like Haye. And anything BHOP does lift, can be done better with his own bodyweight.

Ok. Arnold Schwarzenegger is a multiple time Mr Universe and a heavy weight lifter. He is now 66 and is still working out hard and starring in films where he doesn't seem to have any major mobility issues.

Probably had more to do with the PED's than the weights. Haye is sporting some gyno. Tendons and ligaments can't support the extra strength/weight.

His stay at Heavyweight was very disappointing he didn't deliver on one single promise but KOing Chisroa who is mediocre at best.

He just had shoulder surgery recently. Look at Ferigno. He had knee replacements and hip replacements.

I'm trying to teach these kids the right way.

Don't come on here teachin kids the wrong way.

I'm not teaching anyone anything. I am just trying to give you examples that contradict your theory.

    Don't take offence.

Weight lifting is great for you.....if you use nice form and not go in acting ******ed:nut

I have had several procedures and still lift.....but I lift safe , light and smart. I have people tell me I look half my age and I owe it all to the weights.

You are more likely to get injured in an auto or Cycle accident than in the gym if you know what you are doing with the weights:good on the road you can be a safe driver and have some idiot texting, drinking or talking just ram you bro.

Ever thought it might not be the weights, but what you do with em...?

Phew. That's a relief, since EVERYONE benefits from strength training. :deal

Fine. But weights will make you bigger and stronger still. Oh, and callisthenics IS weight training. You'll probably need to have a think about that. Take your time. :good

    :huh

So, are you for lifting weights or against it. I'm getting confused. Not quite as confused as you though, I think...

    Oh dear. :patsch

The only weight Haye was lifting was the weight on his shoulders from the fans, media, and country who overrated him.

Haye was terrified of Fury. He knew Tyson was coming for his head and coldnt hack it.

    But you don't need weights.

At least not in the traditional sense.

You can use your own bodyweight for resistance.

For instance, push ups too easy, switch to one arm. One arm to easy? Put your legs together and try it.

You got headstand push ups for your shoulders. One armed pullups if pullups become to easy.

    It's more natural than weights.

I will say that I do use kettlebells for swings and for one legged squats.

I don't go too heavy though.

But bench press will mess your shoulders up. Barbell squat will mess your back up.

    Etc..etc...

    Don't mess with weights.
