Thats stupid and most of the boxing coaches know **** all about strength training and every other aspect of s&c work as well.
Very light weights with more reps and running marathons will only develop slow twitch muscle fibers.
You are a boxer not a marathon runner.
Nice way of injuring your shoulder btw is punching all the time because of the destabilization of the joint, and if you happen to overextend you arms on some of the punches then you have a really big problem on your hands, through time.
Running 10 miles every day on concrete is at no use as is all of the bodyweight every day all day.
No REAL strength training in boxing is really a nice way to shorten you boxing career.
Most of you are confusing bodybuilding and weight lifting. One is for aesthetics and the other is to be more functional at your sport.

PEDs are most effective in the Heavyweight division, if I managed a fighter I will make sure they are PED free. Unless its the Unlimited weight division, then PEDs are important.

Haye wanted the advantage & of course any advantage comes with side effects

Roy lifted weights, Bernard lifted weights, Lennox lifted weights. No injuries.

Vtali didnt lift weights and his knees are screwed.

    Sometimes these things just happen.

Thank you for taking the time. The internet is filled with pseudo experts that take a snap shot of events and use that to project their fears/false beliefs on to others. What's worse is that they try argue their supposition and their ego won't allow to step back and actually learn something.

There is nothing wrong with using weights. Problem is a lot of people have poor form, and end up with chronic injuries as a result. Strength training has rules that must be followed to success.

Calisthenics like pushups, pull ups, squats and even situps, can cause injury if not executed correctly.

Pilates and yoga are the most vital elements in stopping serious long term injury

Maybe more important than any ther exercise

    No one is confusing anything.

Pistol squat = multi joint movement that also trains balance.

You can add additional weight, far less than what is required for the backsquat, and SIGNFICANTLY lower the risk of acquiring a back injury considering there is no weight resting on your spine.

Headstand/Handstand pushups and regular push ups. Both are multi joint excercises that work multiple muscle groups.

There are others, but if you want to learn them, you will need a pay pal account.

Additionally, you can develop explosive movements with a kettlebell with a fraction of the amount of weight needed for olympic weight lifting.

There are studies that are devoted to this as well as first hand accounts.

These excercises are safer and more natural. You're ASSUMING they are body building type of excercises, when all the bodyweight excercises I use, utilize multiple joints.

    You're just angry.

Correct, he even states that he didn't think the shoulder was that bad, believe me if it was so bad as to need a five hour operation he'd be in serious pain with it. The operation could have most definitely waited until he retired, wouldn't suprise me either if he never had the damn thing! #bottlejob!

I have seen their results ..Can't fix whats not broken ..My coaches also wanted us to do more calisthenics as opposed to working with weights ..

And running on concrete all day every day is of no use ? Wonder why it worked so much better for fighters of the past who had more stamina who could fight for the full 3 minutes ..Just read the regiments of a Marciano or a Fraizer or a Hagler etc ..

I do though agree that strength training does shorten your career though ..
