I respect you as a poster, but all of the fighters in the past very mentally very very strong as Frazier, Hagler, Hearns etc etc and they sparred often and hard and they had a lot of fights.
There is no better way to condition yourself then to spar, that is number one. And they sparred night and day, take for example Frazier and Toney.
But its not really working for them now is it? Frazier had pugllistica dementia and Toney had it 100 percent.
Boxing b4 was very popular and we had a lot of fighters which today we dont, all of the athletes go to another sports where they can pick up more money and dont get punched in the head, as well as this mma obssesion as well.
I dont get it with you all old school fanatics. If Joe Frazier ran in steel boots and was world champion so should i' Joe Louis used to eat rare steak b4 his fights and that is good?
    Get a grip.
I would listen to Cus d amato and Angelo Dundee all day if they would talk about boxing technique, tactics and there vast knowledge about overall boxing and mental preparation.
But i wouldnt take half of percent of their so called conditioning exercises. Been there, done that. Boxed a number of years and listened to stupid ****ing advices how i should run 15 km dailly and **** like that.
    This is 2013 not 1945.
I read Fraziers regime but im not interested in it. Thats like reading medicine books that are 1000 years old.

Pistol squats as every other squat done IMPROPERLY will destroy your knees.
Handstand pushups will as well destroy your wrists, excesive push ups can develop rounded shoulders and destroy your wrists.
There are no scientific studies or examples that confirms back problems and weighted squats if done properly ofc.
So you would swing a 36 kg kettlebell which is a far more complex movement (which i love)and its very dangereous if you dont knwo what you are doing that doing a squat? :patsch
And btw kettlebell training is WEIGHT TRAINIng you imbecile
No exercise is safe if you dont do them properly ********.
I wouldnt pay you a dime, well let me rephrase that. I would help you with you medical bills because clearly you are insane. You have no idea about training ROACH.
No im not angry, im not the one who has been banned here multiple times.

Who has the best stamina in boxing? Floyd imo. What does he do? Light weights and lots of reps. He also does hundreds of rounds on the pads

I know its 2013 and not 1945 but the difference from then to now is that the techniques were better than than they are now ..

Medicine has advanced boxing has seemed to regress!

Fighters were mentally tougher because of their conditions , today boxers are pampered and coddled ..You have so many weight classes these days that it actually enables lack of discipline..

Do you have to train like Fraizer well that all depends as to where you want to go in the sport ..You don't have to train like him but then again don't expect to become as great as he was !

Some people take it to that extra level to achieve greatness , some guys just do enough and eventually it shows up in the ring !

I also think if you had the privilege to be coached by a Cus Demato or an Angelo Dundee you would have done everything they had said since those two were proven winners as coaches .

And for the guys who have suffered pugilistic dementia well we all know thats the risk you take when your a boxer . And as far as eating a rare steak well the food was 100 times more organic back then the **** they call meat now so I say no don't eat that steak

    There you go.

See, folks, this is why you can't pay attention to a guy like pecho.

He has an ego in his way. He didn't have to say 70 lbs. He could have said 53 lbs, which is standard for kettlebell swings.

This is a guy who's on the road to destruction.

I tell people all the time, stop with the weights. It's a matter of time.

When you're young, you think you're invincible.

I care about the safety of people on this forum. I care about the safety of their children.

I'm not saying anything I don't do, nor am I saying anything I wouldn't teach another.

I believe that calisthenics and kettlebell swings and get ups are the way.

And, no you don't need to start with a 70 lb kettlebell, ESPECIALLY, if you're planning on doing single leg squats.

Most of the people I see on youtube perform such feats, do it with such terrible form, that it makes me cringe.

That's ego. Pecho is inflicted with his own ego.

    Don't let this be you.

    Heavy weight lifting

I agree. Modern exercise leans more towards passive resistance training using rubber bands and indoor pool work rather than marathon gym sessions.

Ali used to do his roadwork in heavy, military style, combat boots rather than comfortable trainers an i've always wondered if it hastened his physical degeneration before the Parkinson's took it all.

I already said what i would do if i had that privilege, i watched Angelo Dundee training manual and when he talked about boxing it was beautiful, stuff about conditioning was cringeworthy.
Boxing didnt regress, people did cause they are lazy, and i already explained that.
You have to know energy systems, anatomy, nutrition, physiology to be a good trainer today.
Running in army boots doesnt help anyone
I have been over this a thousand times with people, and will not go through it again.
    Have a nice day.

As i already said that kettlebell is a WEIGHT so you are contradicting yourself.
Im a healthy man and ive been doing weight over 15 years now. and boxing for you information.
What use is to me a kettlebell of 53 lbs when i can swing it for 30 times? An you didnt seem to grasp what i have been telling you about.
Swinging a kettlebell is a much more complex movement then a squat therefore you can injure yourself more easily, if you dont know waht you are doing as is it with everything else.

Im not gonna sit here and talk all this bull**** with you when you can google for scinetific information. I already schooled you on strength training b4 and you didnt know the difference between a ballistic strength training and plyometrics or benefits of weight training.
Whats there to talk about anymore with you?

Here is a couple of standard articles. Now you give me articles that say that strength training can impair you. I dare you. :hi:

Holyfield did a lot of weight lifting..............

Haye had the same injury that Vitali had. Vitali sent us a picture of himself in the hospital, he really had a huge cast on his arm/shoulder, years ago, but he came back and because champion, then retired for 4 years, then stopped Peter in the 8th round, did not even has a tuneup fight!!!!!!!
