Vitali's resume may be a little weak but some of his feats are actually amazing

If you think about it objectively.

Which other hw has achieved what he has

-Never been knocked down in any fight
    -Best Punchstats for a HW
-Never losing more than 2 rounds in any fight in his 17 year career.
    - Fighting to his early 40's, and not even retired yet
-Both of his losses came from cuts/injuries. You cannot say he has truly been outclassed in a ring. He was actually outclassing both of the opponents he lost to before the injury (Vitali 8-1 Byrd, Vitali 4-2 Lewis)
    - Best Heavyweight KO%
    - Crazy good h2h. Would match up well with the Lewis's/Ali's/etc of the world.

I have him as a 10-15 HW ATG. It's unfortunate that his 4 year hiatus deprived him of having a better resume. He could have had much greater wins and a much beefier resume.

Vitali had some bad injuries, I think due to his long kickboxing career. Vitali would fight a kickboxing fight, then go fight a boxing fight!!!!!!! Vitali as the six time world kickboxing champion both pro and amateur at superheavyweight. Vitali came back from a 4 year layoff and stopped Peter in the 8th round, won the WBC title............

    Nope. YDKSAB.

Being honest, that fight showed that Vitali was the better man that night and that he was a world class operator

Lennox had nothing to prove. He beat a prime Vitaly in his career worst shape. Imagine what he would´ve done at his best.

He outlanded him, outscored him, beat him up bad.

Lewis fan here but if you're an impartial judge, you would know that Vitali was clearly winning.

And no Vitali did not lose more than 2 rounds to Chisora

In your dreams off course. Lewis was in bad shape, Vitaly in his prime. Vitaly had a good start, but after the 3rd the momentum of the fight clearly changed into Lewis´ favour. Lewis landed some huge shots, wheras
    Vitaly didn´t land anything meaningful.

Watch the fight. Round 2, he had Lewis on ***** street.

Round 4-5 he was landing some mad combinations, round 6 he was also landing. Lewis landed the better shots in r6 but Vitali was still landing his.

    Stop being so blind.

4-2, 58-56. You can't deny that. Total shots landed for Lewis 102, Vitali 156

Stop making this into a TKO6 thread. This isn't about Vitali vs Lewis, this is about Vitali's accomplishments.

The fact the guy has come back from career ending injuries is incredible. rotator Cuff. Back. Knee. Any puncher has bad hands once they get old.

Look at other heavies that have come and gone since 1996. All it took them was a loss or an injury and they are memories. Look at a guy like Helenius...remember when everyone was high on him? Seems like eons ago.

Longevity may be the single most toughest thing for a heavyweight to pull off. And this guy has done it at a level in spite of major surgeries all over the place. Really incredible.

Amazing champ. Not only that but he's also a political figure in Ukraine and thinking of running for presidency in the future.

He's doing all this + boxing.

    Great man. :good

I watched the fight several times. Lewis seemed hurt in the second for a short time, but he wasn´t in danger of getting knocked out.

Pure numbers may favour Vitaly, even the scores seem OK to me. Still the momentum of the fight clearly had changed. Vitaly won the early rounds, but after the 4th Lewis took control of the fight. If you´re not able to see that, i guess you´re stil in Vitaly panties. Vitaly held for deer life in the 6th.

Lewis was badly out of gas, even Max Kellerman said that Lewis was done for and he was sitting right behind Lewis' corner. Lewis had a very badly broken nose which was causing him a lot of problems, Vitali would have knocked Lewis out in the very next round, but Lewis' promoter signaled Lewis' doctor to signal Lewis' referee to stop the fight on a cut. ANGELO DUNDEE said that Vitali was cheated out of the WBC title that night. HBO, everyone wanted a rematch, but Lewis retired rather than fighting Vitali ever again. Lewis knows the truth..............next time you see Lewis, take a long look at his nose...........Angelo Dundee was not only Ali and Leonard's trainer, he was one of the best cut men in boxing.
