Vitali's resume may be a little weak but some of his feats are actually amazing

Lewis was preparing to fight Kevin Johnson while Vitali was preparing to fight on the undercard of Lewis/Johnson against Cedric Boswell. Again, he had the exact same amount of official preparation time as Lewis did and claimed to have been personally preparing for the fight for a year, it is not a valid excuse to blame preparation time for his failure.

Not an excuse........................Vitali is never out of shape, year round, but there is a difference between fighting Boswell and fighting Lewis or Johnson........Vitali put caution to the wind. Vitali did say that he should have boxed Lewis instead of throwing caution to the wind and fighting mano to mano, but Vitali was so exciting about fighting Lewis he did not care...........his chin held up fine. He should have been given, at least, one more round...............that's all he would have needed..........

He cleaned out nothing. His brother fought most of the division. He fought a little part of it and still lost.

It is an excuse. Your trying to say how Vitali was handicapped by taking the fight on short notice, implying that somehow Lewis dragged him up from no where, gave him no time to prepare, and still struggled with him. There is no reason to bring up the "taking the fight on two weeks notice" thing other than to exuse a failure through lack of preparation.

Fact is Vitali was training for a fight on the same day as Lewis, against a fighter of lesser quality than Lewis just as Johnson of lesser quality to Vitali, had exactly the same amount of official preparation time as Lewis and claimed to have been preparing to fight Lewis for a year. Whatever other reason there can be given for his failure to get the job done on the night the lack of preparation time is not a valid one.

 

Vitali fans need to stop thinking about who he might have beaten and start looking at who he has beaten...:verysad

I seriously doubt that Lewis was in top shape. But nevertheless, he won TKO 6, Vitaly couldn´t beat him that night, eventhough doctor and referee gave him a lot of time after the 3rd, when his face was already a mess.
