Well interview the fighters then or try going to a few different gyms and getting some new interviews. Do we really need a new Hearn interview every few days?
Skip the Hearn interviews then... there are plenty on their youtube channel with boxers and others ... today for example? Interviews with Johny Nelson and Ray Winstone You get a choice with these guys.
Think iFL does a solid service for British boxing and generating and maintaining interest in fighters. Obviously the bulk of the better fighters are with Eddie and on the most commonly viewed medium of Sky Sports so for them it also makes sense to interview the people who are gonna divert the most traffic their way and therefore generate more income. Saying that they do give the platform for a lot of up and comers time on camera too. Another thing they provide is a level of comfort for the fighters in front of camera, look at early interviews with Quigg, as time has gone by he is a lot more at ease on camera and puts himself across really well. A difficult trai to cultivate with brief appearance on Ringside, SSN or at the end of fights. Kugan probably does himself no favours in the sense that he has a dig back when he gets stick but fair play to him, no way I'd sit and take some of the agg he gets from people jealous he makes a living doing something they'd love to do. Jane Couch, obviously has acheived a lot in her time but its laughable the criticism she is firing at iFL and then in the next tweet crawling up the arse of Team Fury. More power to them and I hope more follow in their ilk as the broader view we get of fighters now , in my eyes, improves the sport.
Maybe it's a bit of jealousy from her? Let's be honest her interviews were on the whole pretty ****. I only watched due to a lack of an alternative. Her interviews were 1 minute talking about boxing & 3 telling the boxer she was going to shag him & getting a kiss off him. Ifilm are just a lot better than she ever was at interviews. Very bitter woman IMO
Just seen janes interview with Andre Ward...for once I wanted Ward to do his famous billy goat finisher move on the Cnut
i remember last year Jane throwing a charity bash in Bristol i think and was let down by a lot of fighters who never turned up , But the Furys did turn up and made a big effort doing so, I imagine they have a real good friendship. Jane has done some great work promoting boxing and was with her mate doing the same thing as I film but it costs money doing what they do, and with no sponsors your really using your own doe, so its a hard game to crack, you might get into the fights free but your not getting hotels and petrol money etc, ( I think Ifilm get a few quid from Match room ) Both teams have given a great insight to what goes on behind the scenes and I for one have enjoyed following them
I'd love if Kugan and Helder did some more mini documentary type stuff, kind of like a day in the life of certain fighters or trainers ect. They do great things for boxing you have to admit since FW has fallen out with them the build up to his fights isn't as good, love watching the ifl interviews with both fighters and promoters. Gives you the real insight into how they really feel, stuff on SSN and Ringside is often just done for the cameras and i think is often cliche and cringy, big respect to Helder and Kugan hope they keep it up for many big fights to come, hope they start going to FW shows again though
True words. It does cost a few quid and if you don't pay for a hotel for yourself, it can be a long drive home at 2am when the press conferences have finished. Then, when you're finally home at 06:00 it's time to start editing/uploading your videos. :tired You have to really love the sport because I'm not sure there will ever be money in it, not unless/until more people start watching and people can make a few quid with those annoying youtube adverts. :thumbsup
Youtube advertising pays around $1 per 1,000 views so unless you're doing the sort of numbers Jenna Marbles etc get, you ain't making much.
Who the **** cares! The pair of them are quite possibly the single most embarrassing, unprofessional, shoddy and down right sickening; journalists in the world of underground journalism Why do they exist, further more, why do fighters even speak to them?
