This guy is so damn ridiculous sometimes. And then some other times he makes a lot of damn sense and you can see how important he is to the sport and the fighters, and I really do believe that. He seems like he is genuinely a good guy and treats the fighters, and his sport justly. That all being said, he was disgraceful following the main event Saturday night. Utterly wrong and disgraceful. Issue #1: "GSP owes it to the fans...the belt..the company...Hendricks...blah blah blah" No he absolutely does not, and now rewatching the fight and that everyone's calmed down a bit....he definitely doesn't. The UFC owes it, if anyone, because they are the organization that operates under the set of rules that allow decisions like this to take place. There was 1 controversial round in that fight, that's all. Round #1. Is it now UFC company policy that NO champion can retire gracefully or even take a hiatus after a fight in which there was a controversial round?? Not to mention, he sounded off and bashed St Pierre, before even listening to what the guys issues were? What if, for example, GSP's father had been dying and it's been known for a week or so already. Now you have a champion, that put aside this personal travesty, and STILL FOUGHT. But all he wants in return is some time off. And you just bash him and tell him no? That is what's getting lost here, without knowing what these issues were, he didn't know if he had already been suffering them already and fought with them. Issue #2: Telling the entire world that Hendricks won 4-1 clearly. His name is Dana White, but he speaks for the UFC. And that was just wrong. he needs to keep his ****ing mouth shut until he rewatches that fight. Because it's pretty much undisputed now that GSP clearly won rounds 3 and 5 and the only one in question is round #1. It's just wrong. This is a day after he tells the entire world how great of a champion GSP has been, and that he has been the single easiest fighter to work with in the history of the company. But he throws him under the bus like that? :deal
i agree 100%, Dana White is a Grade A *****. Fighters are merely a commodity to him to these days GSP has been pummeling top notch fighter after top notch fghter for ****ing years now, YEARS. And to treat a legend like that is ****ing scadalous. Id like to think the Fertita brothers tore strips out of him for what he said, Because it really was uncalled for.
I gotta believe that Dana's the only one who thought Hendriicks won round 5. Take that round aways from Hendricks and it's a 3-2 victory for someone, and round 1 was close enough that it could have gone either way. Personally I thought Hendricks won the first round because I remember thinking this is the 1st round GSP has lost in ages, but it certainly wasn't Lewis-Holyfield I type of a robbery, that's for damn sure.
This is all on top of Dana White disrespecting GSP in the lead up to the fight, calling his testing "weird". I agree. Lorenzo needs to tighten his choker collar, and gag him a bit. If GSP and Tristar tell him to **** himself, that opens up a HUGE Canadian market for a rival organization, maybe Bellator to take over up there. Dana is being a scumbag on a personal level, and an idiot on a professional level disrespecting the world's top martial artist like he is. :deal
http://www.mmafighting.com/2013/11/21/5130670/lorenzo-fertitta Dana's Daddy cleaning up his mess. I wish this man had the time to be the face and voice of the UFC, he makes Dana White look like a troubled teenager.
I wonder if Dana is related to Vince McMann of the WWE?Both "sports" appearing to be morphing into the same sad spectacle.atsch
Eventually Dana's shelf life will expire I'm surprised he's still perceived as the UFC's chief innovator and visionary to be honest
According to GSP, he was told he didn't have to come to the press conference after the fight, he didn't leave in an ambulance and when he tried to go tp that press conference, a UFC PR person tried to stop him from going, obviously after White trash talked on him and said GSP was in hospital.
I reckon GSP told Dana he was out after the Hendricks fight. GSP was probably delayed by them in order to get him on script to toe the party line. GSP is done. Vacating the title is good business as it gives the UFC a chance to build some kind of successor and not just kill their biggest PPV cash cow. Some people will buy Lawler Hendricks on the strength of seeing who will eventually face GSP. But this is the end. No way he comes back IMO.
Dana White is a douche bag plain and simple. There was an article shortly after the fight where Dana actually called up GSP and apologized for what he said and admitted that GSP won the fight. I also find it hypocritical that Dana uses/used steroids to bulk up and change his image, and yet goes on and on about steroids in the sport and how he won't tolerate it.
