Could Haye have delayed the surgery until after the fight?

Not even if you had 5 million in the bank for a fight in Feb!

Would his arm fall off or something?

If the surgery was anything like we've been told - ABSOLUTELY NO! I don't like Haye, but to fight with a diagnosis like we've been told (I emphasize this) could have crippled him for life!

Why does everyone keep saying that? "5 million in the bank". You're all aware that that would need well over 1 million ppv buys to achieve? He was going to fight Tyson Fury with no World title on the line, scratch that. No European title on the line, scratch that there wasn't even a British title on the line! You'd swear he was fighting prime Ali the way these nonsense figures are being thrown around. This "fight" had barely any publicity either.

Haye will be back in the ring. Nothing else will satisfy his need for fame unless he makes it as an actor. I don't think Hollywood is calling.

Sounds like his shoulder/arm would have been rendered useless. 5 hours is a hell of a long time in surgery.
It'd take a LOT to pay off a dodgy doctor, and I don't think Tyson Fury would cause that incentive over a 5m purse.

The great fighters would fight with no eyes. They'd still fight. You could chop their arms and legs off and they'd still come out fighting.

Eubank fought Michael Watson with a broken sternum.

David Haye simply isn't a great fighter.

Of course he will, all this 'I've been told to retire' is typical Haye hyperbole

No doubt in my mind this was a strategic move to get out of the Fury fight, I'd imagine because another option has surfaced

I don't think any boxing historian in their wildest dreams would ever have described Haye as a great fighter, he was never in that category. I also don't think Haye cares. He's all about the money and the fame.

Of course he don't care, its been about pound notes for years with Haye. Very good CW but at HW he has wasted an opportunity in my view

Regardles of peoples perceptions of whether the fight should be cancelled or not, the angle I am looking at is money. Do people honestly believe Haye would simply throw away £ 3 million??

Peter Fury is talking absolute sh ite that Haye is running from them, because even if Haye was to fight Vitali in the future he would only get a challengers purse and if reports are true about K2 promotions being stingy ****s then Haye wouldnt get £3m.

Again, people on this and other forums keep on going on about Haye being money driven, so if thats to be believed then why throw away a fortune.

Haye probably sees Vitali as an easier fight than Fury, at Vitali's age and injury status.

Let's face it, we'll all love it if Haye fights again. If we don't love him, we love to hate him.

I'm only quoting what other's have!

Whichever way you look at it...he tunrned the fight down in favour of a shoulder operation that we didnt seem to know anything about until now!

Haye imo doesnt want to fight anymore! or he has a better offer that's the way Haye works these days! perfect time to get the operation.

The fact he has to tweet the picture of him looking 'poorly' tells it's own story. I wonder how many takes he took for that one

He probabaly couldnt have oput it off but you know, I just don't trust him
