Nobody thinks losing is good but people can learn from their mistakes. Some fighters fear losing, while others do not and perhaps do not even contemplate the possibility of losing, even if they have lost before. They have the self belief that they can and will do better.

The whole reason why oldtimer greats all have losses is because they couldn't control who they were fighting and when.
Even if they were better as each and any opponent they faced, they still could lose because of the circumstances in which the fight was held.

There will be much more fighters retiring undefeated in the near future because nowadays it's a lot easier to do. 4 (to 7) belts out there is one of the main reasons. As is the value of a fighter to networks and sanction bodies atm.

In the case of 99.9% of fighters this is true. Not too many Marcianos or Mayweathers. Most undefeated guys are undefeated cause they were padding a record for a big fight.

It's because there's only one Ali Raymi. Therefore, using math, all the other fighters can not be the best- even if they're unbeaten.

Once you reach a certain level, I don't think it really matters if you're undefeated or not. For instance, when Marciano retired undefeated, was there anything else for him to really learn?
At this juncture, the same applies to Mayweather. I don't see how a loss could be beneficial in any way to him right now.

If you consider torrecampo, singsurat and JMM the best, then you're right.

An undefeated record by itself does not make or prevent someone from being great.

So youre saying basically that having a loss is nothing when you already have too much money like Floyd. Other than that, one guy here said that they're just only doing for record padding purposes to make a bigger load of money which i believe is true.

Going by ******* logic Mosley, Margo > Pacquiao. Doesn't matter if Pacquiao beat them, it's the losing that matters. When you lose it's a sign of greatness. Pacquiao beating other fighters only proves he wasnt fighting good opponents by the loser mentality arguments I'm reading.
