That ringside episode has been overhyped. George never won any mind games. Asking a grown man and a pro fighter if he is going to cry...c'mon. Groves comes across as a kid who is out of his depth and he is. This fight is Mickey Mouse, not a close match at all.
I think Groves is just more intelligent than Froch outside the ring so he can easily make Froch dance to his tune but in the ring that doesn't matter at all and as Froch said himself, he's going to flatten George Groves on Saturday night.
Couldn't help but laugh at Carl's exasperated "bloody hell" after his salmon trousers comment at the end. Can't read too much into these things, but the banter is fun to watch.
Yeah I noticed that. Weird. I agree with this bit but Froch got the better of him in that last exchange.
Yeah I agree with that. George can tie Carl up in knots all day and when Carl struggles to answer or understand he tries to rubbish what George is saying or just flatly refuses to answer. Hes not the sharpest knife in the draw. Problem is not all the viewing public is as dim as he is so we can see straight through it. Anyone see carls latest interview with Ifilm? he blathers on so much he's like a pissed kid in a taxi rank. I've always liked Carl and still do as a fighter but this last few weeks I'm starting to change my mind. That said he can win as many "mind games" as much as he wants come fight time Carl will get to him and stop him. Just hope like others have said GG makes a decent account of himself and can use it as experience to move on and have a decent career.
Eye contact doesn't mean jack ****,the people trying to judge the outcome of this fight on the build up obviously don't have a clue about boxing. The better man is gonna win on the night and that's Froch,George Groves and his **** school yard banter wouldn't rattle a 12 year old and people think it's bothered Froch, what a load of rubbish. Like Froch said George is getting flattened.
And you think asking a grown man who has been in the fights that Carl has been in "are you going to cry" is intelligent and giving a good account of yourself,Groves has come off worse than Froch in all of this.Carl Froch has always been like this in the build ups he's not someone that likes to sit in front of the camera he does his business in the gym,George Groves seems to be putting on an act, like a false sense of confidence. When somebody changes their whole persona just to try and get under someone's they are seriously lacking in self assurance,if that helps George sleep at night fair enough but he's getting knocked out.
I didn't say that I thought the way GG has conducted himself throughout this has been good. What I will say is GG is clearly a more intelligent and articulate guy compared to Carl. Some of the things he's said have been silly i.e. the "are you going to cry" rubbish, but when they both sit down and try to debate like at the presser Carl has no answers and reverts to the same tired old lines. As for not liking the camera and doing his business in the gym can appreciate that and nobody can dispute the guys character and bravery, however somebody who doesn't court the limelight doesn't do dancing shows, doesn't constantly refer to himself as a superstar, and the build up to the ward fight he was no shrinking violet.
I dont think Groves is intelligent at all,if he was he would have kept his mouth shut throughout the whole build up and just quietly went about his business instead of trying to goad Froch all the time with his childish bull****.I think the media were lapping it up and making people believe Groves had some sort of one up on Froch with the mind games in order to sell the fight.I doubt Froch gives a toss about anything Groves is saying because of the way Groves has conducted himself not because Froch is arrogant or unable to answer or any of that bull**** he simply does not give a **** and has his mind set on the beating he is going to inflict.
Not true, Froch got himself wound at the presser as Goves stood there, calm and collected until the end when he got bored. You have rewritten this presser into some huge verbal spanking by Froch, frankly is was nowhere near as exciting and quite crap really.
I don't think Groves comes across as intelligent, more like a bloke with word of the day toilet paper who does a reasonable impression of his former trainer.
Froch is rattled. Massively. Groves is sharp, accurate and quick for the weight. Froch is a slugger. All Groves has to do is box his way to the win. But this is boxing and Eddie has probably taken the judges out for a slap up meal already.
It was a verbal spanking,Groves tried to get loud at the end and as Froch walked back towards him he more or less ran away. He is physically terrified of Froch, that becomes very obvious anytime they come face to face. You are right though the presser wasnt very exciting but George Groves getting laid out on Saturday will be.
