Yes, name escapes me now but guy is middle aged, Eastern European type, barely in top 150...like I said very disappointing.
I'm not saying Mulloker Murray v Woods was fight of the century either, but it was better than this....cheers

Sorry didn't realise he was in against that sort of opposition 👍 suppose wont be most much of a fight but good to see him active at least and hopefully makes up for lack of entertainment with a war against Macklin in march

I never said I expected anything other than a soft touch opponent, Marty. :huh

Either way I think it is a poor fight...it doesn't light my fire, that's for sure.

Been waiting a long time for Andy to deliver, and I've just finally come to accept that he isn't going to...this fight just serves to remind me that a guy I had high hopes for has not delivered and probably isn't going to....so, yeah,.....I'm disappointed....
To be perfectly honest, if I was close to Andy, I know what I'd be telling him....he might not like to hear it but he might be grateful later in life.

About as much as you could expect at 3 days notice,Still get in blow some of the cobwebs off,
Its a stay busy fight no more no less and shouldn't be built up or knocked down as anything else.

It's a keep busy fight. He's fought twice with Adam Booth and been with him not even a year, the first against Fitzy and then a one round KO over some American. Do you want him to jump right in there with Golovkin. He gets some round under his belt, gets to show what he's been doin with Booth and hopefully impresses and the same with Macklin then that makes Lee v Macklin that more attractive.

Sky (both Adam Smith and Eddie Hearn) keep droping hints about Lee v Macklin next year? If it does take place in Dublin, I could not think of a more fitting undercard fight than Stephen Ormonde V Jamie Kavanagh. Very closely matched and ranked with identical records. You could have another tasty fight in Spike vs O'Kane .
3 fights that would be competitive and drive people from all over the country to pack out the 02, haven't even mentioned the ticket sellers Reynolds, Hyland, Conlan McCloskey, and a possible debut for mr JJ Nevin!

I appreciate what you are saying Mac. I do understand the background to this fight. I suppose the point I was really trying to make was not about this particular fight....it was a more general point about Andys career being a disappointment Mac. If Andy was really going anywhere he wouldnt be having fights like this at nearly 30. I really had high hopes for Andy when he turned pro, but at this stage I just cant see him going anywhere at world level.
The only bits of world class boxing I have seen from him were against Vera (who lets face it was very crude and easy to look good against) and the first few rounds versus JCC Jr..and I feel that after all the years he's been at it if Andy had what it takes we would have seen it before now.
Since he is such a personable, likeable guy I would hate to see him as a gatekeeper taking punishment. Its not tennis or golf where a guy can keep going even if he is never going to make it to the top, and just play for fun, you know - play just cos he enjoys it etc etc
Id like to see Andy as a trainer, doing media work etc from now on - he would be a great ambassador for boxing. :good

Yeah, well he did give a very good account of himself with the Middleweights. He's had an unfortunate career though. The loss to Vera really set him back alot and then promotional issues, but he has got a chance to beat Barker (even if it is the IBF and provided he beats Sturm) and this fight will get the ball rolling. Win this, beat Macklin then maybe fight Barker, and I reckon he could beat Barker. Easier said than done but it's do-able.

I saw that Fra, he did look good alright.

But Andy is 6'2" with good power...he will always look good against guys like that , guys he can tee off on.
What worries me is that he has no guard or head movement.
Maybe, just maybe his footwork is a bit better, that's all.
Even against that guy he still got clocked with a few silly shots.
I just feel it's the same old Andy, and when he steps up he will be exposed.
But he did look good with his shots alright last night.
