Ah NO !! He needs to fights someone with some weight behind them, and that last time that happened he was KOed Badly. And we are talking about David Not Mario :-(

 

he was making a joke. Mario Lemieux was one of the top three hockey players ever.

 

Why the fukk would you bump an old as dirt thread just to **** on Lemieux who's got nothing going on right now, and big up Stevens who stood up to Golovkin better than most thought...

personally, i think lemieux can ...he is very fast off the start, gives it his all for the first 3 rounds, after that he is done, lol...but for those first 3 rounds, i think his power and punch speed is better than GGG...but like i said this is only for the first 3 rounds....and when you swing with all you got like lemieux, and with the speed, you get ko from what you dont see comming...not so much the power...

but yes GGG would ko lemieux, doens have the greatest chin, and exertes all his energy in the first few rounds...GGG paces himself and put power in select punches to hurt you and bring you down, lemieux puts everything he gots in every swing...theres a difference between smart fighting, brawling, and boxing...

Smart post. Agreed on the premise that he surprises Stevens with a monster straight right or a power left hook up close. Odds are fairly slim, though.

That's actually what I meant by "he's got nothing on the go". I was in the 14th row when he stepped up against Rubio. I'm going back when he does step up again.

And there lies the difference … Tactics !!! Curtis is a far better tactician then Lemieux and would have the advantage from beginning to however long it last. I don't see stevens getting caught with anything stupid, but I do see Lemieux getting caught due to his all out reckless style. Also I don't Lemieux see having the technical expertise to deal with curtis defense and power. KO 5 Stevens .

 

I'm a fan of both guys, but if I could change my vote I'd pick Lemieux by decision. Watching Curtis go the distance with Findley and David the distance with Upshaw, changed my mind.

Both have exceptional power, but I think both are a lot more durable than people give them credit for. I've rehashed the Rubio fight enough times, David doesn't have the glass chin people make him out to have.

After 5 rounds, these two will both probably have lost enough steam off their punches that their not taking each other out.

It's a KO/TKO within the first 2-3 rounds, no matter what. Small chance Lemieux lands a bigger left hook Golovkin did on Stevens, a lot bigger chance Stevens covers up for the onslaught and flattens Lemieux after 2. You don't know Lemieux.

Not that it means much, but...

Rubio, translated back from Spanish: "If those punches in the first two rounds landed on my jaw, I and anybody else who fought him would be in the hospital".

 

Upshaw can't punch for shizzle.

David would go for broke against Stevens, he knew Upshaw was a spoiler and Ramsay trained him accordingly.

 

I wasn't using Upshaw or Findley as evidence for Lemieux or Stevens chins, but their power. It's a little overrated on both. Neither have the technique to execute their power shots effectively. I simply don't see them taking one another out. When Stevens steps up, he doesn't often get stoppages.

David showed good control over himself with Upshaw. The thing with the Alcine fight was his confidence was still rattled from the Rubio fight. After Torres (who's a decent scalp for David), I hope they give him a fast turn around and put him on the Bute-Pascal undercard, rematching him with Alcine.

 

Yeah, fair enough on the power eval vs chins. In the back of my mind though I see Stevens being greedy and wanting the KO against David, which gives Lemieux a small chance to connect with his sub-par technique left hook from hell which has proven effective in the past as long as he could get in the proper position.

He showed good control, but I have a hunch he won't when the pressure's on. Top 10-15 type of opponent, the man's gonna lose it again. He'll pound away vs boxing to a scorecard (not that I would like him to do any different haha).

A rematch with Alcine would be Joachim's last fight, win or lose. Good money for both. I like it. Actually I wanna see it.

I really like David's abilities, I just don't think he was developed properly going into the Rubio fight. He went from 1st round KO's over Ayala & Camacho (a WW), and then a club level WW to fighting Rubio. They set the kid up for some harsh reality.

I know they had tried to get him a fight with Ouma prior to Rubio and that would've revealed some important fixes/realities, but it was a major oversight by his handlers not to throw him in with atleast Matt Vanda/Ossie Duran/Billy Lylle caliber opponent. I know Amber was frustrated with David's training attitude as well, which was a bit disturbing but not enough to write off the kid's future from my point of view.

This time around he looks to being stepped up properly with Upshaw and now Torres. Still see a promising MW and should be a major attraction again in 2015.
