Lets not blame Carl too much. The man is 36 and has given us alot of great nights of boxing. Groves was excellent and the stoppage was just terrible. I think groves could have recovered to win the fight, personally. Carl showed his heart and strength as usual and still deserves some credit, even if his mouth is letting him down. The real people to blame here are Hearn and the ref. Disgraceful.
Froch sounded desperate in that post fight interview. He has been exposed as a plodding sturdy fighter with a liccle bit of boxing skills. He shouldnt even utter Wards name now
I'm done with this sport, sickening, just look at the score cards, Groves was going to lose no matter what. Lets call it what it is, CORRUPTION.
I counted 4 solid hits and George did look in bad trouble - but the ref should have given him at least 10 more seconds. On reflection, though, this outcome may be better for him - he avoided a possibly brutal stoppage and goes out looking like a hero.
It's surprising how people seem to think fighters should be eloquent, balanced and insightful when someone sticks a microphone under their nose after a fight.
Yeah it was an early stoppage, but respect to both of them, that Froch could hurt Groves after taking a **** kicking was pretty impressive, and Groves fought the perfect fight up till then. What did people expect Froch to say?
Froch was absolutely flattened in the 1st round, and hanging on for dear life. Froch has a granite chin, and he was feeling every shot Groves landed. Groves lived up to the hype. He is a serious contender at SMW. And the biggest puncher right now at SMW.
The fight wasn't over though was it? Froch pumeled groves on the ropes and he was turning away and walked right into the ref with his back turned. he was spent. Froch was coming on strong and he is dangerous until the final bell you know that about Froch. Groves could have got pounded for 3 more rounds if he didn't go down. Yes it was a bit early but Groves was done and Froch is a bloody good finisher when he has his man hurt.
