Too bad for a premature stoppage, it looks like the referee has robbed both fighters. Grooves deserved to go out on his shield and Froch will get some undeserved hate for taking a favorable decision. To be fair, Grooves did look like he was about to get wrecked in that assault and Froch seemed to be on his way to another famous comeback. They should both get some credit for this fight.
Bullsh!t. He stopped Froch cold in his tracks or backed him up with every clean shot. This was a rip-off. plain and simple. To think that the scorecards had froch ahead is disgusting.
Even though it was a Brittish stoppage, maybe we should see more of these. It was a tough call, but Groove was fighting, he was willing to put everything he had in there, and it was a championship fight.
Worst part is that Froch looked as bad at multiple times during the fight. He turned his back at least twice and dropped stiff on the ropes a few times. Groves engaged too much also. He looked vastly superior on the outside. Only weapon Carl had was that weird jump-in-squared-up-and-hook-with-both-hands thing he does and he fell for it EVERY time.
Ward would get jobbed, either out boxes Froch for 12 rounds and gets robbed or as soon as Froch lands a punch, the paid off ref stops it. The people whi support this are vile scum.
Momentum had shifted to Froch over the past couple previous rounds. As bad as the stoppage was, it may have been the best thing for Groves. He was taking more and more hard shots, even if he survived that round the beating he likely would've took in the remainder of the fight could've had adverse long term consequences on his career. We don't need him following in the footsteps of Fernando Vargas. He was winning the fight, hurt Froch badly, and proved himself to be world class at a young age. Those are great achievements to go on for his career.
Groves apparently has a pretty decent chin, and in rounds 10,11,12 Froch wouldn't have been as fresh as he was in the early rounds. Groves could have literally just stood on the ropes with his guard up and given away the last 3 rounds, and would have won the fight by at least 4 points.
Whether he was gonna win or lose that fight is irrelevant. It was in the first ****ing round and slappy just slapped him a couple times which were all blocked. That's like saying if Tyson hit Douglas in the first round with a flurry of blocked shots and the fight was stopped, it's wouldn't matter cause Tyson was gonna win anyway.
I think he woulda grabbed and held and eventually recovered and scraped the last rounds out, Groves was trading for no reason if he boxed he coulda survived but woulda lost a decision
