6-2 after 8 with a 10-8 round so not that close ha, but froch won round 8 and was winning 9 and Groves was slowing down and getting tagged by Froch. Froch might have got a legit stoppage but we will never know now. I Feel for Groves but what can you do.
And.........there is NOTHING we can do. As always we sit and ***** BUT if everyone boycotted the PPV and ticket sales then things might get shaken up. Aint gonna happen though.
Totally agree. And by that logic, ref should have just stopped it in round 1 when Froch went down. He was hurt way more than Groves ever was.
First of all my first post, so go easy on me! it was a great fight. The ref certainly seemed biased a bit like refs in the Premier league are against smaller teams in football. But although the stoppage was premature I think it was only premature by about 10-15 seconds, if he'd have let that fight go on I think Froch would've really done a number on Groves. Maybe its done Groves a favour long term. He'll feel cheated by that and push on. If he'd have been sparked out it may have had a different effect on his career?? I doubt there will be a rematch though. And those scorecards were a disgrace, I had Groves winning 1-7.
in the world of Matchroom fighters, that was a nail biter it was so close. It now seems impossible to beat Matchroom fighters on the cards. I personally dont even think Groves was hurt during that stoppage, but going by the scorecards he still wouldnt have won anyway. At some stage rival promoters are going to look Matchroom and think. "nah, no point, unless my fighters knocks your man out cold, we cant win" As it stands i had Groves winning 7 of the 8 rounds, i gave Froch the 5th, and that was marginal. Froch should have had at least a point deducted for elbows and punching on the break as well, possible even2. The referee gave him a "Final warning" about 10 times. Scandalous reffing
He might have been hurt more, but Groves head was lolling about from multiple shots. Froch was only down with one big blow,
Can't he take credit for being absolutely outboxed and battered and somehow withstanding it to comeback and be on the verge of a finish? One must feel sorry for Groves, but still gotta admire Froch's never say die spirit - amazing.
exactly my thoughts... so what about when people get KO'd? People have been dropped harder and been in REAL trouble... like Froch in the 1st round... Amir Khan vs Garcia.. .Bute vs Froch... and the fight has gone on... Grvoes didn't even hit the canvas.... how can you stop the fight because one of the fighters might have got hurt? This is not golf... it's boxing... people get paid big bucks for a reason... they know what htey have signed up for... their life is on the line and it's a dangerous sport
