He did what he needed to do which was win while taking minimal risk.

You might bet on boxing but you really don't understand the objectives of a fight very well.

He wasn't suppose to take the risk of going for a knock out, that wasn't the game plan, because it opened him up to a counters, so the game plan was to win while taking minimal risk, because a loss would pretty much end his career. But I guess you're not up on the strategic part of the sport.

 

Post fight RIOS was hilarious. He very angry and said to Kellerman "Are you saying I look like a punching bag?"

Kellerman said "No, I said you put on a gutsy performace (or something to that effect)

Rios: "Answer the question"

Kellerman: "I did answer it"

 

Brandon really didn't try and win... hard to get the knockout against a guy like that

This was the easiest fight ever to score. Pacquiao obviously won the fight 12-0 rounds, 120-108 points. Round 3 was the closest, but still obvious for Pacquiao. Rios was the perfect opponent for a tuneup fight for Pacquiao, playing the bamboozled bull to Pacquiao's matador. Pacquiao looked the best he has looked in several years. He fought for 3 minutes every round, showed brilliant hand speed and ring movement, his punches were crisp, he worked his punches up and down, and used all his punches in single and in combination. He focused on his boxing, and was willing to let any potential stoppage opportunity come to him. Rios in contrast only ever had success by clinching Pacquiao and then working the body and head while in clinch; otherwise, he simply could never catch Pacquiao. Granted Rios proved a very limited opponent, but to me this puts Pacquiao back into legitimate discussion as a worthy opponent for Mayweather, and makes a Bradley rematch so much more intriguing. Hopefully we see Pacquiao a couple times in 2014 in such huge fights.

Please note, when I say that calling Rios a bum is equivalent to disrespecting Gatti i am not comparing their careers, I am simply sharing my opinion that boxers who put it all on the line deserve our respect. And if people don't agree with that then like i said earlier, they can go and f. u. ck themselves.

 

Good win for Pac but I think he needs to retire. I dont even think he can win against Bradley in a rematch.

While I saw how Rios' plan was to shell up and lure Pacquiao into opening up unnecessarily, it was a disappointment that at the end Manny did not get the KO win.

One could see how Rios was just too slow and he was uncharacteristically too cautious there. Or maybe that was a trap seeing how everybody felt Pacman should win by KO and he would be pressured to go for broke at some point while Rios played it cautious and waited for that one opening?

 

You can't really knock Rio's performance. We all know that he's a slow straight-ahead fighter with average skills. As Rio's mentioned during the post fight interview, pacman's speed really bothered him. Once he tasted his speed, there was nothing else for him to do expect take a twelve round beating.
