Its a tap. Choke is sunk and tap occurs right when gsp releases. Watching it live on tv it was clear. In that position what else could he be doing? Trying to improve position or escape would require a push on the thigh...not a short series of open handed light pitty pats. Was he sending gsp morse code signals? I think not. The hold is broken right as he commences tapping and the ref is in no position to see it. Was it legit since the hold was broken virtually at the same time? I don't know. But there is no explanation for why he did that other than the universal signal in all combat sports for I submit.

I confess to not having seen the tap when I watched the fight live on TV but, upon review, I have to say that yes it was indeed a tap. Anyone who's watched enough MMA can see that, but unfortunately for GSP he let go of the choke hold about a second afterwards and the ref never saw the tap. So I guess it boils down to the fact that a tap isn't a tap if the ref doesn't see it.

It would be interesting to know what Dana's opinion is on that.

no jack off, most tap outs are not like that one. If that were scored a TAP OUT it would be most SUBTLE tap outs ever scored. Again,, most tap outs are not like that one so don't be a goof. As well if TAP outs were scored as POTENTIALLY subtle as that tap out everyone would be OUTRAGED. To me a TAP OUT has to be CLEAR or it shouldn't be scored, let the guy go a bit limp if need be.

Put it this way, I don't think that was a tap and I will tell you WHY. Nobody knows what is going on in Hendricks head at that time, he could be setting his hand getting ready to push GSPs leg if need be and then during that he could be RETHINKING while hesitating simply waiting to see what way the motion is going to roll,,,thus Hendricks gets READY to push on GSPs leg, realizes that he wont need to as the ANGLE is changing and after hesitating not SURE exactly what to do they both ROLL right out of it.

As well, IF it was a TAP out, my guess would be that GSP somehow hit a pressure point maybe in Hendricks adam apple or right below that in the throat and the RAMPED UP pressure created a SUBCONSCIOUS TAP out, lmao, ok laugh all you want but let me tell you what I mean,,,,i'm a fighter and could whip everyone on this entire forum and everyone knows it,,,However, only a couple dozen years ago I was in a mma type fight and took a vicious finger poke in the eye,,,Ok first of all I admit I went YELLOW as it was a vicious finger poke and I recall FEARING my eye ball just got DESTROYED for good so I CALLs time essentially,,,,, well I did it ASAP without thinking, I stopped fighting and held my eye and kinda turtled turning my back on my opponent who kept on clubbing away at me not knowing what was happening,,, I says to the REF that I just took a finger to the eye and the REF says FIGHT,,,,so I became offended like hell for a second or two wanting to call NO FAIR and then I got upset and kept fighing, I ended up breaking the dudes fingers after I choked him out, then I got up and poked the REF in the eye and told him to keep REFFING,,,,,true story as long as you don't mind bull****, the point is when I got POKED in the EYE I techniquily quit,,,, I stopped fighting, I TURTLED, I gave the "STOP IT, JUST WAIT!" sign,,,,i even let out a GROAN and expected the dude to stop fighting,,,yeah so my point is that it was a very SUBCONSCOUS type of TAP OUT, was I trying to call time and stop the fight? Yes?

Is it right to call that a FIGHT ? No, you tell the fighter to KEEP FIGHTING or not if its NOT certain, if they are OUT of it they will let everyone know soon enough,,

If that was the case EVEN if that was a TAP OUT I still would not score it as such as it was still so SUBTLE that it was CLOSER to a reflex tap such as when.

In closing , yes its POSSIBLE that could of been a TAP OUT , however, REGARDLESS of what It really was to score that as a TAP OUT would be STUPI D, not even GSP would want that, PLUS nobody can ARGUE that GSP stopped fighting in anyway THINKING that Hendricks TAPPED he didn't notice it. So in closing that's not a TAP OUT and if you say otherwise you deserve a poke in the eye.

It was a tap. Hendricks gave up for a half a second. Fight should have been over.

WTF does GSP have scratches on his head? I think Hendricks gloves had rips in them that forced more cuts and little scratches like that.

ok I get it now, you are just in love with GSP, I am too, he is awesome, seriously, I totally understand, I remember the first time I saw him fight he had this guy down in some total out of the way fighting association that no doubt no longer exists and from his knees he picks this guy up from the MATT, [[ albeit GSP did have perfect leverage and angle, but he also realized it in a split second so it was wild ]], yes, so GSP picks the dude up only two to three feet of the matt and slams him and uses the ricochet witch was TOO MUCH because of the organization of the time, lol, yeah he uses the ricochet to slam the dude at least two more times into the matt and the guy is out,,,there wasn't a lot of ricochet mind you, lol, just enough that you could tell he naturally kinda went with it,,, one of the most impressive quick short distance repeated matt slams I have ever seen,,,,as good as Rampages EPIC slam of Arona? or whoever that poor dude is that he picks up full distance over his head in Japan and than BOOM slams down and the dude is not moving, well this one was the SHORT DISTANCE equivalent to that but it was on the cheep circuit so it doesn't get a lot of play,,,,

anyways, I understand how you love GSP but that's not reason to lie to yourself, I mean GSP gets marked up in most of his FIGHTs, you should know that ???? Whats the matter with you? Unless your having fun and then good on you , lol, anyways,,,,,there was no tap and even if you say there was and others in this thread and some other threads say there was it wont change the fact that there was no tap accepted and there never will be,,,,,,,, I understand GSP was awesome,,, however , we all have our EXPIRE DATEs,,,,lol, I'm kidding around as he is still awesome, I am just saying that Hendricks gave GSP a hell of a tough fight and for you to focus on him tapping out is a DISGRACE to GSP,,if he were reading your thread he would shake his head NO,,,Its true,,,,its ok, you were in the WRONG, it happens, your young no doubt, its good to be passionate, however, its also important to stay real and if your seriously you could be a real jackass not just in regards to fanboying GSP but other things in your life as well, think about it ? It would be wrong for me to just omit sharing this to you. Your a fellow passionate fight enthusiast and a GSP supporter to boot,,,,,,its possible that GSP has lost a quarter step here or there for REAL,,,,its possible that he is getting serious in his life and his soul is telling him that its not worth it to risk his future so fearlessly because of everything he has,,,,does that make him less of a fighter? to me it makes him smart witch is besides his speed and strength what GSP was in the ring,,,,SMART, smart choices,,,,,its ok dude, trust me GSP will not keep getting better and better from here on forwards,,,we have already seen his best performaces and I say that with so much respect to him

now don't ever mention that bull**** tap again, it makes you sound like a WEASAL,unless your having fun trying to sound like a WEASAL and then that's kinda what I was hoping you were doing, lol :good

if not I would seriously cut it out, if your not aware your being a WEASAL most of the times you got a real problem that your in total denial of and do you know what that is ???

    Your a WEASAL ,,,, :bbb:deal:rofl
