What's next for George if there's no rematch?

I can't see Froch accepting a rematch, I think he fights Kessler for a third time or retires. His ego won't allow him to get his head boxed off again.

If that does happen where does it leave Groves? I think a fight against Stieglitz makes sense. To me Stieglitz is nothing special but he does have the WBO belt.

 

I can't see Froch rejecting (or Hearn due to business sense), somewhat shits on Froch's legacy and persona if he rejects a rematch after how the fight went.

If that does happen though then Bika or Stieglitz would be good fights for Groves.

 

Outside of Ward he beats everyone at SMW Froch won't have the balls to rematch him, Groves is better then Froch

I would've picked Groves to beat Stieglitz last year when it was supposed to happen. Good, winnable fight for him if he can't get a rematch with Froch.

 

Bike then defend vs de gale who is WBC silver champ. Frock is damaged goods now so I'd leave him on the shelf if I were George and on to bigger, better things

 

Good stuff,Yuffle,but got a few issues with what you say:The bare facts are that Froch won the fight.Even though I guess most of us see Groves as the better man,a lot of people,including some who count,will only see that he was stopped.He may have to get a few more wins before getting his shot at Stieglitz.And then hell have to go to Deutschland,and they're nearly as bad as us for hometown decisions.I think Froch would rematch George,but he showed signs of ever so slightly slipping last night.A year from now even more so.So agree with you there.

People mentioning Steiglitz. Is Groves mandatory because If Froch won't accept a rematch would Steiglitz accept a Groves fight? I think Groves deserves an easier fight or two before going for a title or other big fight.

 

I cannot see the rematch not happening. Makes the most business sense and Froch will not duck Groves. Froch and McCracken will believe they can make adjustments to beat Groves convincingly. The bottom line is Froch may have finished Groves in round 9 onwards but we will never know, but my bet is Froch has no doubts that he would have and will push for the lucrative rematch.

Froch took everything Groves had and I thought Groves was close to done. Carl would have finished it IMO. It might have cost him a lot with all the shots he ate, but he did it. I don't see how his stock as a fighter is diminished by this. As a man, yes, but not as a fighter. He took Groves' best and was still there. Credit for that.

 

I kind of agree, deep down he will be humiliated by what Groves did to him. He looked clueless for a lot of the fight and took a lot of punishment. McCracken might have a whisper in his ear and tell him it might be time to give it up

 

Yeah,I agree with you.Froch doesn't duck anybody if it makes financial sense,and this would.Id like to see Groves get 2 or 3 good wins,hopefully with a world title first though.By this time a year or so will probably have passed,and Carl will be a year older.Wanted Groves to win last night,but after that travesty,even more so.
