118-110 Scorecard for Pac-Rios? Pure incompetence?

What did you guys think of that scorecard? I've seen shutout fights and could see 1 or 2 rounds going either way, but this fight wasn't that, there was absolutely no rounds you could give to Rios.

I understand it has no effect on the result and does not threaten the result at all, but IMO, it demonstrate incompetence more than anything. If you can't even score rounds that a blind man can score, how can you be trusted in fights that may be closer?

Also I believe judges score a fight round by round, so judges may give the token rounds mid fight when a fighter is already ahead to make it exciting. The reason that is wrong is if for example Pac was up 6 rounds, judge gives a "token" 7th round to Rios despite losing it very clearly, then somehow Rios turns it around and wins the next 5 rounds. We then have a controversial decision, BECAUSE of that token round.

Why is it so hard to just score a round how it should be scored without giving away token rounds?

It's the same **** with other fights, most notably the Canelo-Floyd CJ-Ross score. Such incompetence should result in instant ban, these people are handling peoples careers and millions of dollars, in no other profession would they get away with such incompetence.

I thought Rios won the 3rd round. None of those scorecards were worth complaining about.

No idea how you can give 3rd round to Rios, unless you're blind or incredibly bias.

And yes the scorecard is worth complaining about, if a judge gets 2 rounds wrong in rounds they shouldn't be getting wrong because the winner is so clear, then it shows incompetence, and in closer fights, 2 rounds is 2 rounds too many to score incompetently.

If you want to cry because a judge scored a total of 2 rounds for Rios, be my guest. If all 3 judges saw it that way, Pacquiao still wins by a wide margin. The only one coming off incredibly bias here is you. I don't think any objective fans would actually take time to ***** about those scorecards.

I agree. Perhaps it does not make any difference after all but I can only scratch my head when the 2 judges still somehow found a round or 2 for Rios.

I even thought some of them might score it 120 - 106, as Pac was way too dominant in several rounds.

    Completely agree with your post.

We only pay attention to bad decisions when it affects the result. But really if you want to stamp this **** out of boxing you need to focus on every bad scorecard around.

I didn`t see Rios winning any rounds ... Not saying the judges were bias. But, sometimes they look for a close round to give the fighter a round... But, I thought it was a shutout...Seriously, Rios was never in the fight ...

Did you read my post? It has nothing to do with who won. It makes no difference whether Pac wins by SD or shutout UD, a win is a win. I'm questioning the incompetence of judges not the result. Scoring a round wrong when its clear as day is incompetence, and should not be tolerated.

Ok buddy. Im not sure if you realize this, but the scoring in boxing is pretty subjective. When you consider the judges are watching the fight from one angle, at ringside, with no commentary, it's easy to see how they see things differently. If a commission tried to punish a judge for that scorecard, then they might as well punish just about every judge after every fight. The scoring will only get worse if a judge has to worry about getting in trouble if their scorecards don't match a tv viewers.

this shyt happens all the time I think we should pay attention to it! remember when danilo hausler was beaten from pillar to the post by mads larrsen for EU title and TWO judges scored it 116-112 third had it right 120-108.

Probably same happened in Mosley v Oscar2 Oscar Sturm, pac bradley Holmes vs Williams ect.

You talk about watching it live, yet none of the ringside viewers have found a round to score for Rios so thats no excuse. It's like the others said, it may only be 1 or 2 rounds here, but 1 or 2 rounds in a close fight is a HUGE deal. It also wouldn't matter if there were 1 or 2 close rounds, but if you can't even score a fight as wide and clear as last night, what hope have you got in scoring a fight like Pac-JMM?

Yes it is subjective, however that doesn't mean free for all. There is still such thing as correct scoring, and 2 rounds to Rios, a 5 year old child could have done a better job.

I felt rios could have edged the third... wouldn't argue over it until I rewatch it.

Is that when Rios got in a solid right hand on the body that made Pacquiao take a step back? :think

I remember thinking it was a good punch but nowhere near enough and he still got massively out-landed in that round.
