We all know the stoppage was bad and George should have been given more time. My point is though surely George Groves needs to take some blame, he started to drop his hands, he decided to get into exchanges when he didn't have to. Carl Froch was not in that fight but George always gave Froch a chance when he decided to war with Froch. Did his inexperience show?

You're saying that George is partly to blame for being robbed......... because he went toe to toe with fROCH. No mate that makes no sense at all.

His inexperience did show but then Froch has done the same to experienced fighters. Froch also landed some rabbit punches which I think took a little bit out of Groves. None of this excuses the stoppage.

Don't think you would catch Wlad doing those sort of things.

I guess he wanted to prove he could go completely toe to toe with him?

Of course it makes sense, he was schooling Froch with his boxing ability, speed and footwork, there was no need to give Froch a chance and war with him.

Sometimes the other man makes you fight, sometime its also due to tiredness as well. From round 7 onward it was becoming a Froch kind of fight though.

The Ref spoiled a great fight and all we can do now is debate about how Groves would have done in rounds 9,10.11 and 12 if given the chance instead of that BS stoppage.

People are missing the point of the thread. George Groves would have known that Howard Foster has a history of poor stoppages, he should never have given him a chance to stop it by trading with Froch when he didn't have to. If you knew of somebody who was a convicted thief would you start flashing cash about no you would not. George Groves would have known about Foster, he even said himself about his "chinny image" As I said, it was a horrible stoppage and I feel George would have won but he can't go without some blame himself.

With the judging - I think Froch might have nicked 3 rounds tops off the top of my head but haven't rewatched. I wonder if they were effected by the build-up and went against Groves after Ringside, like with the Degale fight in his favour? even subconciously?

Nah, you can't essentially blame Groves for what was a bad stoppage. He was getting tagged but this is boxing... it happens!

Lot of argument for a standing 8 count isn't there?.

Froch got one, cleared his head got back in.

Refs should have the ability to break a fight, administer a standing 8 and that also gives the referee thinking time to assess the fighter and whether it needs to be stopped.

The rules are as bad as anything when it comes to saving a fighter, we need to help the ref with options at their disposal.

Groves should fight one of the manySMW Champs out there(not Ward) and defend it a couple of times and tell Froch to **** off unless everything is 50-50 and NEUTRAL referee and judges.

I think Groves was runing out of gas and got caught its that simple. Yes the stoppage was early no arguments there and both fighters got ripped off not just poor old George. Yes he was hurt, yes he he did go limp and drop his hands. There is no standing eight count ,he could have taken a knee and the ref has the best seat in the house. just saying :D
