Looks like it's the end of the road for Carl Froch...

He's got nothing left. His previous fights have took their toll and it was proven on Saturday, the robbery decision saved him.

He only has the Groves fight, he doesn't want Ward and Ward doesn't want him, he doesn't want Kessler really (he beat him decisively enough) and Kessler probably won't go for it. GGG or Chavez Jr won't move up, basically the Groves fight is the only big fight he has left really.

It's only downhill for Carl here, his physical attributes have completely eroded. There was a time his heart and chin got him out of trouble, now it's crooked ref and promoters.

If he fights Groves again, he'll retire in the ring.

 

The bloke is a credit to British Boxing and to be honest I am not going to slag the man off regardless of his arrogance and misguided comments since Bute especially against George Groves. What Froch has done for British boxing is nothing short of spectacular and up and coming stars should look to Froch and see that his record is what they should be aiming for. Cause as a boxing fan I would prefer our boxers to fight them 50-50 fights and superstar fights at every opportunity especially when they are world champions unlike Nathan Cleverley and Ricky Burns whom in my opinion do not fight world class opposition and are happy to fight fringe world contenders.

People like Lee Selby, Luke Campbell, Anthony Joshua, Callum Smith and more of our blossoming future stars need to look at this and think right If I am fighting I need to fight the best of the best or the most challenging high reward as possible as this is where the world think WOW!

He has been quiet today- I would have thought he'd have responded to Groves' "Rematch or Retire" question.

 

to be honest, id favour Froch in the rematch. He wouldnt be going in as favourite, he would have EVERYTHING to prove, his career would be on the line, and hes shown, when that happens, he brings it.

 

Could be. He probably wants Ward or Chavez Jr because (I assume) they're quite big money fights and Ward isn't a big puncher and Chavez is beatable, but there was such controversy that the public might only accept/want a Groves rematch. Does he want that fight? He already has a win over Groves and he could potentially lose a rematch and take too many big punches in the process. He is at that age where a lot of boxers retire or at least should retire.

Dont bother mentioning his weight or cocaine issues-you are talking about boxing cvs and Hatton has one of the best at his weight in recent times for a british boxer (in terms of names, not wins)

 

If he doesn't give Groves a rematch I think it hurts his legacy big time. That has got to be put to bed one way or the other. His reputation as a guy who will fight anybody is gone if he retires instead of a rematch, rightly or wrongly it will be percieved as him wanting no more of Groves amongst casual fans at least.

Ever since the super 6, he's been putting in performance after performance. 2 of his last 3 fights have been his best showings throughout his career (Bute and Kessler II).

Groves was that good on Saturday night, he made Froch look poor. Froch is still the same fighter, I didn't see anything more or less of what we've seen recently - but Groves is quick, has a better jab and has a cracking right hand.

 

Yes but the big question is, how much did the Groves fight take out of Froch? I've never seen Froch hurt this bad in any fight, and he's been battered in many.

The amount of times Groves walked him onto that right hand was ridiculous... and it's not as if Groves throws pitter patter shots, he can seriously punch.

Froch's chin is unreal, but there's only so many huge shots like that you can take before it does crack. A rematch with Groves and I think he would find that out.

 

Exactly, Groves has some serious power and Froch was being hit by some big ones.

As for the rematch, I don't think Froch will get hit as much or as bad as the first. He will be much more cautious and will give Groves a lot more respect. On the flip side I can see Groves pacing himself more as he started to flag come the 8th/9th round. But again the question is, will Froch be the same again....
