If I was Hearn, knowing what I saw on Saturday night, hearing what the crowd thought and the realising Froch has only a couple of fights left, I'd be doing everything to keep Groves happy. Groves has struck a chord with the public, he has an entertaining style, he's got the skills to operate at world level and win a world title.
I like Groves and Booth as a team. Would love to know what went wrong there, seeing as they've ended up splitting at such a key stage, in court etc, yet still want to remain friends. All a bit odd. Booth seemed to damn Fitzpatrick with faint praise. Called him a "competent" trainer.
He has recruited Paddy on a good few of his camps for different fighters so I dont think he has any issues with the quality of the man
I know he's been involved with Booth before, which makes the statement that he's a "competent" coach all the more strange.
Hence why I said "damned with faint praise". Of all the words Booth could have used to describe George's new coach - "good", "very good", "excellent" - he chose "competent". Not even "highly competent". Competent suggests someone has just enough to get by. A bit like describing your other half as "tolerable" and expecting her to take it as a complement.
