Deontay Wilder enters The Ring top 10 heavyweights

Wilder does not deserve a top 10 ranking yet plain and simple. Ring magazine better be careful, heavyweight division always has the spotlight on it and if undeserving rankings are being given out it will hurt the intergrity of the magazine.

 

Adamek at 3. Wilder in the top 10. No Chisora. Absolutely farcical list.

Some odd rankings here. Adamek seems too high at this stage of his career. Chagaev hasn't done much lately.
Of course DW at #10 is laughable :nut Chisora or some other HW should take his place.

If Boytsov avoided that UD loss he'd be in the list instead of DW - DB nearly shutout a durable D Guinn in 2012.

 

Is someone buying Wilder's rankings? No wonder he refuses to fight a ranked fighter, he doesn't even have to fight anyone really. I guess they ranked him in the top 10 and the WBC ranked Wilder #3 because Wilder beat up a woman, strangled her?

 

By placing him 10 in their rankings the ring magazine does open themselves up for such allegations as his spot being bought or manipulated because of his promotional team. Conflict of interests and all that.

There is a chance that Vitali or Vlad will possible fight Wilder since he has #3 WBC ranking. Vitali is WBC champion, Don King has Stiverne in court, will not allow him to fight anyone, then that leaves Arreola who was stopped by Vitali, the there is Wilder at #3 WBC, that fight could happen......................

Vlad has mentioned fighting Wilder in the future, even while Steward was still Vitali's trainer...............

 

Neither Wilder nor Chagaev should be in there. Perez and Chisora deserve theirs spots. I'm not sold on Solis' #8 either. He's done nothing to deserve being listed in top 10. The list is joke.

Its not unusual for unbeaten but unheralded guys to enter the top 10 by beating a bunch of has-beens and tomato cans. Wilder at 10 may sound crazy but it's not uncommon in the history of Ring rankings.

Mac Foster sky rocketted as high as #5 in the "golden age" by doing the same thing Wilder is.

 

Foster was ranked as #1 heavyweight contender in 1970 and Wayne Thornton of Fresno the same town as Foster was also ranked at #1 heavyweight contender at some point in the same year. But to be fair Foster apparently knocked out Sonny Liston in sparring so he must have had power. coincidence that you mentioned Foster though because it is 47 years exactly tomorrow since he made his professional debut.

 

Deontay is doin' the right thing. He just needs to find a real trainer to help with his crude technique while stepping up in competition.
