Pacman is very susceptible to getting beat by a good counterpuncher. This has been clearly proven in his 4 fights with JMM. Pacman is always the aggressor and lunging in when he throws combinations which leaves him open to getting counterpunched, as JMM exhibited time and time again. The thing with Marquez though is he has that Mexican Machismo way about him so there were times in all of their fights he stood in the pocket and traded with Manny, something I don't see Floyd doing.

Now when Marquez took on mayweather, Marquez had to be the aggressor in the fight because Mayweather is just a more patient and careful counterpuncher compared to JMM. Also, Mayweather's defense was just exceptional as it pretty much always is and he clearly showed in that fight that he is by far and away the greatest counterpuncher in the game.

Now if Manny were to get the chance to fight Floyd, he'd be taking on a guy who has some traits similar to JMM except that he's a better and more accurate counterpuncher, faster, has better handspeed, packs more power in his punches, is much more patient than JMM and is much quicker and has much better footwork than Marquez as well. Than combine that with the fact he's the greatest defensive fighter in our generation and I just don't see how Manny has a chance in a fight against FLoyd, except if he hits him with some miraculous lucky KO punch.

Pacman would obviously be the aggressor in a fight against FLoyd, and all FLoyd would have to do is wait for Manny to do his predictable feints and simple 2-3 punch jab combos where he lunges in and leaves himself wide open to getting countered. The more I think of this hypothetical matchup, the less chance I give Manny. He'd be taking on a guy who has a much higher ring IQ, is more accurate than him, doesn't take any major chances in the ring, and just waits patiently to tag his opponents back with a counter or mess up his oppositions timing with that lead right. And he'd be by far the best defensive fighter Manny has ever saw. This should end up being a boxing clinic.

good point but that is because Floyd basically does everything Marquez does but better an he forced Marquez to lead an he isn't really good at doing that. Pac has different tools to trouble Floyd his hand an foot speed also when Floyd gets pressured quickly he moves back in a straight line right to the ropes watch the Oscar Floyd fight. an am not saying Pac will win because I don't think he will I just think he has enough tools to make it not a mismatch even Ricky Hatton's foot speed troubled Floyd in the early rounds. also Pacs awkward style is going to trouble Floyd early in the fight until he figures him out.

Deserve a :good from me...Good job guys, very well detailed counter arguments. Enjoyed reading it.....

IMHO, its a toss up fight between these two great fighters of our era that have given us some great fights in the past ten years.

What you are missing is that Oscar backed Floyd up with a jab. Cotto when he did land or back Floyd up it was with the jab.

As Roger Mayweather has said time and time again. "You need a jab in order to beat my nephew."

Manny doesn't bring that to the table and my honest opinion is that this fight would look almost identical to the Mayweather vs JMM fight. Floyd will just box at long rang and put on a clinic.

Floyd has foot speed and hand speed to off set Manny's and lets be honest Floyd has seen foot speed several times in his life and in the gym. Hell even Zab had great foot speed back in those days.

I disagree with roach...in his last 2 fights against canelo and guerrero, floyd has looked quick on his feet, moved well, and was still pretty quick with his hands. To me floyd is getting better with age as far as using his tools and what works for him. He might not be as fast as a 26 year old floyd, but it aint like he is sluggish and noticeably slow...he is still fast and beats EVERYONE to the punch.

Even though I still think Mayweather has a easy night with Pac, I wanna see it now.

Nobody else is going to beat these guys (Marquez V will not happen, Bradley rematch unlikely as well.)

Floyd is all about $$$ and dollar signs...the fight with Canelo was supposedly the most lucrative PPV money wise ever, so im trying to figure out what fight is out there for floyd besides PAcquaio that can earn that amount of money or more? Maybe broner, but that fight aint realistic for next year.

Wow there's a lot of *****'s in here.

Why did Floyd duck him Pacquaio for years if he isn't a stylistic issue for him? Every excuse imaginable?

there thing is nobody knows what's going to happen until they actually step in the ring. anything can happen in a boxing ring. the sad thing is were all debating a fight we will probably never see.

Floyd Sr. is just using Pac's name to promote his son's next fight against Khan.
