Lucian Bute how do feel about him.

He was definitely overrated and overprotected. He's a good fighter but isn't top class material. It's a shame, I really wanted to see how he would have performed against Pascal.

 

Overhyped and subsequently embarrassed worse even than Jeff Lacey.

 

fast hands, with power. that is why ward avoided him. ward has below average power, thus the duck.

you do realize you need to get inside somehow no, this doesn't magically happen?
and to do that against someone who will throw at you with speed and power is not easy, especially if your have pillow fists and your opponent can take some risks of getting hit on behalf of that...

Bute has nice ring movement, Ward's dirty game won't work that good I can tell you that, Bute will just step back from clinches and throw vicious hits;if Ward can cope with Bute power punches that's alright but I am not sure of this

Edit: all said, Bute is exposed against decent brawlers with good chin, he should not enter the ring with the likes of Froch, his chin is too much and Bute would have to do something really special defense wise if he wants to survive Froch attacks.

 

My opinion of Bute is that he was weak mentally and chinny but he was talented in his prime. Unfortunetly for him I believe he was in his prime a few years before he fought Froch.

Looking at Bute's best performances he did beat Bika more convincingly than anyone else including Calzaghe and Ward could.

 

He is fighting Jean Pascal in January.

 

I think Bute will do a better job as a lhw fighter. I'm rooting for him vs Pascal. Yeah Froch pretty much 'slaughter' him but thats history. Time to move on.

Don't forget Bute beat pretty convincingly Sakio Bika.

 

To be honest, Bute looked **** against Grachev and was battered by Froch before that. He then got an injury that meant he couldn't fight Pascal this year and hasn't fought at all this yaer. I liked watching him at SMW, a good body puncher, but I reckon we have seen the best of Bute and I don't fancy he will do much at LHW. Saying that, I think he beats Pascal, I mean what has he been doing since the Hopkins rematch other than announce big name fights that never happen? One thing is for sure, the people of Quebec will be hyped about this bout, shame nobody outside Quebec will be.

 

Ward is also one of the best defensively in boxing and at executing a gameplan. And Bute's nice ring movement didn't mean anything against Froch, who is much slower and less adept at cutting off the ring than Ward. Froch was able to get inside anytime he wanted and once he got there, Bute had no answer. Ward would be able to get there as easily if not more so and inside game would certainly work unless Bute has improved a lot(which the Grachev fight indicates quite the opposite). I don't even think Bute would have much hope if Ward decided to mess around and outbox him instead, Bute's defense is a speed-based defense and his offense is predictable. Ward would negate the left hand and Bute would probably have no answer again.

 

He was/is a very good boxer. I don't feel he was protected, he just didn't/couldn't enter the super 6. Before that tournament his resume was pretty good compared to the other guys at 168. He has a lot of positive attributes, speed, some power, accuracy, good timing and counter punching. He has some weaknesses, doesn't seem to like pressure, seems to need to fight at his own pace, doesn't seem to have great punch resistance, not great on the inside. I still think he gives Ward a hard fight if he can still make 168 without being drained/weakened.

its no coincidence that bute showed vulnerability against the first world class SMW he fought

 

Exactly styles make fights. Just because Froch walked through him doesn't necessarily mean others would too.

Most boxers have vulnerabilities. Of course skill set looks better against worse opponents but styles make fights.
