Seems like Froch isn't confident he would win a rematch with Groves. He wants a fight he's more confident of winning (Chavez Jr) or if he he's gonna lose he would rather it be for a title against the no.1 rated SMW/Ring p4p #2.

Froch is losing all the credibility he took years to build up.

Vegas v Andre Ward? Believe it when I see it.

Andre Ward isnt a draw and I dont believe for a 2nd HBO or the Casino's would be interested in Ward v Froch in Vegas.

I like Froch but if he doesnt fight Groves again then that's nothing but a ***** move.

Froch would always get Groves in the end. I think a rematch would have a similar outcome. Wouldn't mind GGG or JCC if they can't get the rematch.

He needs to prove that though in many peoples eyes. His "old ground" comment was very weak, that in itself makes people lose respect for him because its delusional talk and sweeping facts under the carpet, that "old ground" had him on the ground lights out.

I'm a fan of the guy but I will literally have a totally different opinion of him if he ducks Groves. There must be loads of people that feel that way. At the end of the day it seems like it would be more hassle for Froch to avoid this rematch. Granted, Groves is not helping matters with his current attitude and goading but facts are facts.

I guess as others have said, its a really similar situation to Lennox and Vitali. Lennox seemed to get away with this because, number one he was an all time great that was seen as a better fighter anyway, number two he retired. In Froch's case he is not really seen as a better fighter than Groves, and if he doesn't retire and fights someone else it looks like a duck instead of admitting he is past his best and should call it a day. Lennox always had the brains to quit while he was ahead.

Personally I think he should retire, its not a great end but there are many arguments you could make in Froch's favour against Groves, such as a terrible version of him still got George in trouble. If he carries on and goes a different route its a big contradiction in relation to his "fight anyone" statement. He obviously wont fight anyone will he, especially those that nearly got a KO over him. He must know that this is a valid fight, not some "old ground".

I feel bad for Froch in a way as well because he really cant win here, he is between a rock and a hard place. He gave a young gun a chance but he has got himself in a situation were if he doesn't put this situation to bed its really going to effect how fight fans feel about him, his whole legacy rides on how this plays out.

Good post - he really is in a hole, he knows if he fights groves again he will have to go through hell again to beat him, is he prepared to do that at 37 after all the other hard fights he has had. I'd say retire.

I do find it slightly ironic that someone who has more or less fought the best guys in the division for over 5 or so years is being classed as a coward or ducker...doesnt make much sense to me

People still giving Froch credit for "giving Groves his chance" - Groves was the mandatory opponent Ffs!

This was yesterday's interview after the bellew weigh in. @ 8.15 he talks about the possibility of froch groves2 but goes on to say he is meeting hbo this weekend whilst he is out there & they have got a focus on froch vs ward, Chavez jr & GGG. http://youtu.be/VSDDBbse8Ug

He also says Froch groves is "not necessarily" the biggest fight to be made, a duel sky/hbo ppv vs one of the others is just as big

It would be hilarious if he gets robbed against Chavez, and probably good for British boxing in the long run.

yeah I get you with that irony, that's why it seems a bit unfair on Carl, his career seems at its toughest at the end after all the hard work was done, boxing is a ***** of a sport. Its a strange situation really, it just shows you how damaging stopping a fight early is as well. I think it did more damage to Froch than Groves. The ref has a lot to answer for.

Froch has proven time and time again, he's ok coward. Those who call him this are an embarrassment and never stepped foot a day in their life in a ring

Beating Chavez Jnr is hardly gonna do anything for the legacy he's been harping on about for years, and defeat would shatter whats left of the small piece thats left. I see him fighting Ward in america an being outclassed (again) then having to chase Groves to salvage some kind of reputation.

Froch will be a top 5 british super middle when he retires - regardless of all the bitches trying to knock him

His legacy is secure, a win over Chavez would help cement it and maybe put him in my top 3

Groves is my preferred fight, with Chavez, GGG 2nd and third. He needs to forget ward
