Martin Murray is at IBF #8. I think he's about the best there, and I've been wondering which way he's gonna jump. An option for him is to go hunting the IBF strap. Having just 'lost' to Maravilla and perhaps not liking the GGG route (though I hope this gets made) to a title, Hatton could try to line him up Geale, Sturm II or Soliman (when he can). No visa issues (Aus should be doable though UK preferable) and all decent but winnable fights. Could even see a Barker voluntary defense, but I doubt Barker wants to take the risk.

Neither Geale, or Barker are all that good. Not a knock on them, it isn't their fault that they are fighting in one of the weakest middleweight divisions of all time. Hopkins used to catch flack over his middleweight division, yet the current middleweight scene makes Hopkins middleweight division look like the golden age. Neither Geale, nor Barker would be a top ten guy back when Hopkins was in his prime.

Geale is a good fighter, as is Barker. The MW division is a hazy horizon and hopefully some clarity will emerge in 2014

 

Who cares. Another fight between career long contenders who will never be the linear champions in their weak division. 50 belts will make sure every nationality has a couple of "world champions" to irrationally prop up.
