There are some that will blindly follow him due to race (similar to Obama), some that will ignore his criminal past and appreciate what he does in the ring, some who are ****ed up themselves and can't see any wrong in it and others that forget it all and can't wait for Kovalev to spark his thug ass straight out. I'm with the latter, but I can understand people forgetting about a boxer's criminal activities when he is in the ring, I've done it plenty of times, think we all have. Most boxers, especially African American, but also vast majority from **** hole countries have a criminal past that probably goes deeper than what they have simply been convicted for. Boxing is going to attract many from poor **** hole environments, these guys aren't going to be the cream of the crop. I'm not excusing what they do, I mean Adonis should've been sent to jail and the key thrown away. However, it's the attraction of the sport to that element of our society that will consist of many who have done ****ed up things, it's not cricket you know.
Insanely exciting inside the ring I suppose. Some people can look past his history. I'm having huge trouble with that however and wouldn't consider myself a fan per say but I'll sure tune in on his next fight. Tyson, Hopkins and quite a bunch of other boxers were in prison too and have suffered little image problem although very few if none of them have committed crimes this dirty I think. Well, the **** conviction of Tyson is pretty damn severe but then again, the public wasn't overly conviced by that I feel.
He grew up in the slums of Haiti where life is cheap, poorest country in the western hemisphere, don't compare your world to his. Yeh what he did was bad but he was practically a kid when he was convicted, he's 36 years old now has served his time and turned his life around through boxing stuck on the straight and narrow since leaving prison. Manny Steward believed that he'd turned himself around, the two were very close and if you respect Manny as I do then you can take his word for it.

Some of you guys make it sound like he was stealing loaves of bread to feed his family and all the 'ooohh, he grew up poor' excuse is BS. Lots of people grow up poor, doesn't turn you into a ****** kiddie fiddler, unless you Stevenson fans have the same depraved tendencies as him, which is why you defend him. This would explain a lot, there are sick ***ual deviants everywhere, even on boxing forums it seems. I also think some of you need to read up about Stevenson and what he's like, you clearly don't realise the full magnitude of his past, the stuff he got charged with is just the tip of the iceberg and he's a very lucky man to be walking the streets.
