:huh I did. Before it happened I called it a stupid waste of time and said that Murat didn't belong in the ring with even ancient Hopkins.

The fact that Murat was able to make it competitive suggests that Hopkins is slipping, badly.

Hmm..gotta say I hadn't heard that either, but he is IBO #3 (behind Geale and Sturm) - surely that'd make Geale the mando tho?

Murray is still WBA #1 and still mando AFAIK.

Interesting, so technically Geale and Murray are his mandos. I've a strong hunch Murrays gonna be fighting him next, but I wonder if Geale's gonna man up this time - he's said he has the blueprint apparently:rofl

Also Geale is WBA #2 so if Murray won't take it Geale's double mando. It'd have feathers and quack if he tried to wriggle outta that one.

Murat - Hopkins was quite simply a joke.

Murats only claim to fame was losing to Cleverly and losing to Campillo twice but being lucky enough to do it Germany.

What a load of utter nonsense. Amazing skillset? Great Defense? His resume is garbage. Actions speak louder than words man. Alot of guys look amazing against poor opposition hes not proven and hes 32 soon. Was you serious about the IBO mando thing? Hope not

That's what I thought too, but although he ain't the mando, Adama is IBO#3 - their fancy computerised rankings simply suck dick - I actually wouldn't be surprised if they did have Adama at #1 seeing some of their other rankings.

So because Sturm, Geale, Martinez, Quillin, Martin, et al have ducked GGG by refusing fights with him it somehow means GGG sucks? His resume lacks because elite-level fighters refuse to fight him. That is, actually, not a strike against his talent, but a mark in favor of his talent.

You don't go 345-5 in the amateurs without an amazing skill set and great defense. It's just fact and really inarguable. You do realize that 345-5 is one of the best amateur records in the history of the sport, right? You don't achieve that without those skills I mentioned. Not to mention, anyone who can scout boxing ability (like all the pros ducking him obviously can) can plainly see his ability in the ring -- his technique, his angles, his positioning, his balance, his command of distance. All of those things are independent of his opposition, they are simply his ability. Saying things like you said makes you out to be ignorant and unknowledgeable in the sport of boxing. The hardcore fans of the sport and students of the game know GGG is a gifted, elite-level boxer and to think otherwise means you are either not a hardcore fan or not a student of the game.

He is the mandatory because Geale and Sturm passed on their right of mandatory contender; therefore, it goes to Adama who is #3, which makes him the mandatory. In other words, if #1 and #2 pass, it goes to #3.....

There are pros and cons to any ranking system. A human-driven ranking system allows for favoritism, which is a con, but it also allows for certain rankings that make better sense in some cases, which is a pro. A computer-driven ranking system is set in stone and unyielding to common sense. It removes favoritism, which is a pro, but it can result it rankings that may defy some common sense, which is a con. So I think there are arguments both for and against each type of ranking system: a committee deciding the rankings or computers deciding the rankings. Personally, I think it's interesting to have both systems in play in boxing, as it allows for a more diverse set of contenders rising to challenge the champions.

Hopefully Osumanu Adama has a very good corner and health insurance.

LOL. I agree. This fight is going to be a walk in the park for GGG. Hopefully, we will see at least one elite matchup by the end of 2014 with GGG, and a few more in 2015. GGG's popularity should have gained enough steam by mid-2014 that HBO & K2 will be able to warrant the investment to pay the elite fighters enough money for them to take the risk of fighting GGG. I guess it's all about risk/reward ratios and we've had to be patient while GGG's popularity raises enough revenue to make the risk/reward ratio tasty enough to attract the elites who know what GGG is capable of. Based on my extensive scouting (for betting purposes), GGG beats everyone at Middleweight. At Light Middle and Super Middle, there are a few problems for him and a couple of probable loses (Mayweather/Ward).

I'm a student of the game actually and GGG doesn't impress me nearly as much as he does you. I'm not saying hes not good because he clearly is but his punches are telegraphed , his defense is leaky and hes not that fast. This is clear to me. Now his judging of distance and power makes up for his flaws to a point but to say hes an elite level pro is nonsense when his best win is Matthew Macklin.

I guess not everyone is a good student...

...as a slow, telegraphing fighter with poor defense he must have had to pay off tons of boxers, referees, and judges all around the world to go 345-5 in the amateurs because that would have been impossible for a slow, telegraphing fighter with poor defense. Andre Dirrell should have torn him apart, Lucian Bute should have torn him apart, Andy Lee should have torn him apart, but I guess he paid them off.

His punches are not at all telegraphed, he has the highest connect percent in the sport, combined with high volume, that is unheard of. He will Telegraph to set you up and he varies his speed constantly so he can't be timed. Defense is superb, he is rarely hit and never hurt, the pace he fights at means you will see his opponents land more frequently than a slow paced fight but he is still landing 3 to 1
