Casual fans and knee-jerk response types have distorted the view of Murray, Barker and Macklin...over-reacting to each ones last fight, all I hear recently is how Murray is way ahead of the others, and even Barker is ahead of Macklin. A win for Mack and a hiding for Barker should redress this distorted view this weekend IMO.
I disagree. Barker is fighting a top 10 middleweight. Macklin is fighting someone not even in the top 20. Even if Barker lost and Macklin won I think Barker would still be at the same level. Unless Sturm got a ko and made it look easy in the process. Highly doubtful.
If you mean that Barker would be at the same level as Macklin then we agree almost totally, Paddy. Actually we are on the one word pretty much, if you mean that. I would put Macklin slightly above Barker as of today but what the hell... My point was that as a result of short-sightedly overreacting to ONE result for each boxer, casuals have Murray way out in front - almost at "superman" status, Barker a long way behind him, and poor 'ol Mack miles below Barker. The truth is they are a lot closer than that. Most fans right now would probably say: 1. Murray 2. Barker 3. Macklin Taking into account their overall career achievements I would say (as of today- and subject to weekend events, obviously): 1. Macklin 2. Barker 3. Murray
I see where you're coming from but personally I would have to say in terms of overall career achievements I'd put barker in front of mack as he has won a legit world title.
Ah i remember the good ole days on here. The Barker vs Macklin war between the British and Irish posters. Looks like it's resuming sadly the lads went over to the other place..
There's not much between them but Barker has to be ranked number 1 as he holds a world title which the others don't. I like all 3 and fancy both our boys to get the result this weekend.
Ill-gotten gains my friends, ill-gotten gains. Barker should never have 'won' the title from Geale, 'cos Geale never was a valid champ IMO. Sturm was robbed of his title. Hopefully this weekend he gets to right that wrong. Barker loses, Mack wins.
I scored the sturm fight close for geale, but that's irrelevant anyway (in terms of geale not being a 'valid' champion) as barker didnt win the WBA belt Sturm held as geale vacated it, barker won the IBF belt geale won from sylvester.
had to just check for a minute An achievement is similar to an accomplishment. Achievement may refer to: Achievement (heraldry) or coat of arms, a design belonging to a particular person or group of people Achievement (video gaming) - A system of meta-goals defined outside of a video or computer game's narrative or direct challenge structure Achievement a price or recognition and Macklin is top why ? Beating nobody and losing to Jamie ****ing Moore
