I believe the IBO is respected in many parts of Europe and Asia so apparently Golovkin respects it enough to not vacate it at this time, so he has to fight Adama. That was my point. To clarify, my point wasn't "Adama is the IBO mandatory, so he must be awesome.", instead my point was, "Golovkin doesn't have a choice about fighting Adama because he's the IBO mandatory."

And FWIW I'm pretty sure I've not seen it sold as being a mando either - pretty sure they picked Adama cos they couldn't find anyone else. And yeah, the Irrelevent Belt Organisation is simply s#it.

 

I kinda take your point, but I can't find any reference online to either the IBO ordering the mando or Geale passing on it - Sturm's obviously a little busy right now as #2, but I'm pretty sure there would at least be some reference, somewhere (the IBO website ain't even got it listed on there upcoming title fights list - guess no one's told 'em about it yet:rofl). At most I'm guessing it's kinda an added bonus, so they can say they fulfilled the mando obligations, but really I think they chose Adama just cos that's who they could get.

FWIW I don't much care, Adama ain't terrible and has earned his Teak Tuff badge, it's just I was hoping for a little better (as where we all I guess) - ah well, fingers crossed for Murray next....

 

Do you remember when Macklin and Rosado gave Martinez and quillin hell? That didn't happen with Golovkin, because Golovkin is on another level.

 

another terrible fight for triple G, can't say im surprised though. i can't believe people have this guy in their p4p top 10 when he continues to take garbage fights one after the other. he makes mayweather look like a risk taker!

Not a big name, but another stay busy fight. Unfortunately, Murray didn't want any. I don't blame him. I'd want to milk the Martinez fight as much as possible.

He does have a choice, though. He can just drop it and save the date for someone more preferable to Adama. He must recognize that whatever his personal attachments to it, the IBO commands very little respect on a global scale and does nothing to help further his career along - particularly in the USA where maybe five people have even heard of the IBO. (All five of us massive boxing nerds...)
